It's clear. The Dragon Knight Commander is from the time of Maxos (which is set before even the first Divinity game) whereas The Dragon Knight isn't. Damien isn't even running about during this time, though I do think that we will encounter one of the Chaos demons as the game sounds as though it's set during The Chaos Wars.
