the total war series? or civilization series? king arthur series?

i mean. yeah. you are the dragon. (who doesn't want to be a dragon?)

but after looking at several descriptions i'm thinking along the lines of such gameplay.. unless of course larian has surprises!

(please do have surprises. ;p)

Form what I've seen so far it's more like Dragon Knight Saga & Dynasty Warriors Empires got together & had a Baby. eek

We don't know for certain yet. It has the World Map where you can plan your next actions but this plays out like a turn based board game part. Once you enter battle, you get to control your dragon and fight but at the same time, you can (and must to win) control your army, issuing commands to them. There is also a base where your princess, adviser and Generals stay for you to speak to them. You can also upgrade yourself and all that in the base and your base is probably where people will come to meet you and where you can make choices.

So I suppose you can compare it to those three games but it's my understanding that none of the above games allow you to control an avatar in the game world to fight. It's for this reason that I compare Dragon Commander to Kingdom Under Fire and Mount and Blade which both feature RPG elements along with RTS elements (with Kingdom Under Fire having heavy RTS elements). Both games allow you to control your hero whom you can upgrade and all that.

From what we've seen so far it's more like Dynasty warriors Empires, in Empires you have a stratigy mode where you choose which area your going to try to conquer. You can form alliances with your naighbours & even get them to send reinforcments when your defending your territory or attacking an enemy. Then when you choose to attack a territory after your done issuing orders & prepearing for the assult you enter combat mode where you controle your character & issue orders to your army when nessicary.

Then you have all the Divinity elemants to the game with the whole upgrading controling your dragon Ect. Dragon Commander is like DKS & DWE got together & had a baby like I said, which is fine by me because I love the dynasty warriors Empires games there great fun.

Sounds similar I guess then save that Dragon Commander will have different combat and well...dragons. Never played Empires though but I did play the first games of the main series, enjoyed the first, hated the sequels but I hear Empires is different.

with empires you get a map of China with all the different provences to select, & each provance offers different things. Eg some offer smiths to upgrade you weapons other breed horse's & give's you the option to buy a mount from there stables when you claim that territory. Empires have the gameplay of the Dynasty Warriors games but with added extra stratigy, your basicley the ruler of your territory. You even have the option with Dynasy Warriors 6 Empires to create your own character to use in the game. You have options like choosing a voice fighting style cloths facial features & all sorts, I love the empires games there great fun to play that's why I know that I'll love DC.

While I do enjoy Dynasty Warriors Empires, it's still a pretty shallow experience. Becoming Sworn Brothers/Sisters with famous people from history and using their skill cards for your benefit is nice, but it doesn't really go in depth.

I'm hoping for more from Dragon Commander.

Well we already know there will be more to Dragon Commander it's just a question of how much more guess we won't know for sure either way till the day of release.
