Wow. I mean really. You all know the hate that I have for TES but Skyrim looks even worst than Oblivion! I watched a LIVE leaked video showing someone playing the game from the prologue. The AI of enemies is DUMB. One enemy just ran into a wall while the character's allies attacked him.

Another enemy allowed the player to attack him several times and never once blocked.

No wonder why Bethesda is removing all the leaked footage from YouTube and their own forums, it seems that they don't want people to see Skyrim for what it truly is.

All the dragons in the universe can't save this game IMO. I very sorry for those who have hyped this game up. I'm sure there will be many who enjoy it but I'm also sure that there will be those who will be greatly disappointed like Morrowind fans were disappointed with Oblivion.

Everything about Skyrim yells dumbed down, modern and steamlined and no, that's not the way that RPG's should be heading. I loved Dragon Age: Origins for the old feel it had and two years later. Bioware release Dragon Age 2 which feels completely "new". There's still an audience for old type RPG's. Dark Souls proves that and so does Divinity 2.

Edit:

I just learned about new information for Skyrim:

http://www.qj.net/pov/xbox-360/pov-is-skyrim-dumbed-down.html

You can only equip one armor piece which means that the armor system has been dumbed down. Further more, this means that there's not much character customization in terms of appearance.

I thought it might be over hyped and be dumbed down somewhat. Bet they release it and a patch will soon follow to fix the things they didn't have time to do before the deadline. Hopefully A demo will be made so we can see what it's like to play for ourselves.

I won't be playing it for a while got some other games in my 'to buy' list first I don't get much time to play games now. It should be bug free in 6 months when I play it...

It'll be lousy just like Oblivion, but it'll win awards and sell like hotcakes. Sad and true.

My Favorite RPGs: Divinity franchise, Gothic franchise (including Arcania, so I think I'm alone...), Venetica, Risen, Two Worlds II, The Witcher, Sacred franchise, Fallout franchise, Mass Effect 1, Alpha Protocol, Planescape: Torment, Drakensang, KOTOR 1 & 2, etc.

Hmm, this is a topic that I'd expect to find on gamefaqs. I'll reserve my judgement for when the game is in my hands.

Obviously there will be bugs and glitches in such a huge game, can't see why that automatically makes the game bad. There is no game released nowadays without bugs. Also if "dumbing down" means getting rid of the crappy character system of Oblivion, I'm all for it.

I pre-ordered Skyrim ... and when the magical day 11-11-11 is started I gonna play Skyrim and look for myself if this RPG can keep my attention ! In the most worst case I still have a "map" I can hang on my wall to look at :hihi: ....
And in that case I simply play further on with my new female Ranger Priest Ronja in the fabuleus Ego Draconis part, now 6 Dragon Slayer + 2 Dragon Knight years old female hero smile !

But I never trust all the info on the internet : not the "hyped info" and also not the "dumbed-down info" !!
If the graphics are not that great that's not a real problem for me!
For example : many gamers (I read on forums) find Divinity II graphics not nice enough ! I find the DKS, even the Ego Draconis(the not remastered version), nice enough to enjoy it! And DKS is really cute to look at ! That's my opinion.

But in a RPG the Skills, Quests and other elements are for me MORE important than graphics !
Oblivion can't take my attention and most caves are copy paste, the level-up system is not my style, but all info says many things are changed in a good way (RPG elements!).

I will experience it on 11-11-11 what was true and what was false info !

Only reason I won't be getting Skyrim is that it's Steam exclusive and there's no way in heck I'm ever going to support that.

Everything I've heard and seen so far looks (And sounds) pretty awesome.

It's not about glitches and/or bugs for me. It's about the combat, the AI, the story and the limited freedom of choices. I've watched the leaked gameplay footage and it really looks different from the gameplay videos that you find on YouTube and I don't mean that in a good way.

How old are the leaked videos ? What resolution ? And can they be trusted ?

The leaked videos? I saw one the other day. Someone was playing Skyrim live from the start of the game. The Xbox 360 version has had torrents released onto the internet, so it's the final version:

http://www.geeksailor.com/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-xbox-360-leaked-download-torrent/

Quite frankly, it looked similar to Oblivion but the interface was horrible (it looks like a shooter interface). So for those who loved Oblivion, I guess you will love this but for those who hated Oblivion (like me), you probably won't enjoy the game.

The third person animations are improved but not by much to be honest.

What a "farce" I must say ! :hihi:
Sorry, I don't believe only what I read/see in a game magazine (but certainly NOT all words written in such a magazine!) or if I have the game and look at it myself ! The internet is full of rubbish elements about upcoming games I believe and it's thanks to some guys/group of people who are a big fan hyping a game or guys who hate the game dumbed-down the game !
It's almost always the same bullshit, I hate it, but at the same time it's verry funny & hilarious to see & read all comments on boards and sites on the internet about 1 upcoming game, in this case Skyrim .

I've allready pre-ordered Skyrim, so I go buy it.
One feeling I've always had and this will not change : Skyrim can't go up and over the Divinity games !! That's because the Divinity games has a very special place in my heart & I really love the humour !!!

Maybe this is funny to read, but the thing I'm most afraid of in Skyrim that can disappoint me is "Humour" !! I'm afraid Skyrim is TOO seriously, but I hope I'm wrong !!

It is ? That gives me just another reason to stay away from it - although it doesn't look unpromising, apart from the total lack of light colours within the game. wink

Amalur/Reckoning on the other hand is somewhat too light-coloured for my taste ...

And yes, I'm difficult to be pleased ... wink

hi,

o yes, I've the same feeling with Amalur as you've Alrik ... a little bit too flashy, or how can I explain it smirk

But Skyrim too dark or what do you mean Alrik?
I've the feeling Skyrim will have a nice enough colourful atmoshere ... especially the mountains and the snow I like hahaha ... I just buy Skyrim for that:
to walk in the snow, mountain up and mountain down, explore and relax while I go for a sorcerer who let their summoned creatures do the most dirty work :hihi: ... so I can concentrate on trading, alchemy, quests and other RPG elements beside action (battles) wink
That, I gonna try .

The only videos and screenshots I've seen so far are quite devoid of light colours - no flowers, especially ! :hihi:

Everything looks

a) dark
b) black or
c) shades of grey

THe only real colour I've seen so far was a screenshot with a completely light-blue sky ... opa

I will be pleased biggrin

I like all colours if combined in a good way to create an appropriate
atmosphere ... For example Dark Souls Is dark coloured, I can fully imagine that DS is not your style Alrik ... wink

Later on I let you know what I like/dislike in Skyrim. On 11-11-11 I start with Skyrim ... maybe for a long time, maybe not that long ...it depends on how Skyrim can hold my attention ...
I'm curious too :hihi:

What do you mean? I saw the leaked video and so have many other people. That article wasn't lying. Somehow, some people have got a-hold of Skyrim for the 360. As I said, if you liked Oblivion, you will probably like Skyrim but if you hated it - judging by what I have seen - then you're not going to like Skyrim.

This is why I like demos so I can see what it's like for myself - I've bought games that I enjoyed that I wouldn't have bought otherwise by going by the review alone. Drakan and Severance: Blade of Darkness come to mind. I didn't even read any reviews for Divinity 2 - I bought it by liking what I saw in the demo, having seen reviews (of the xbox 360 version) I might not have bought it.

But back to Skyrim, I thought oblivion was good but not great. Well worth playing though and I guess Skyrim will be the same even though it may be a little dumbed down. I do get the sneaking feeling though that it will have a few problems that will need a patch after release. However, it's still on my to buy list unless it turns out to be a total disaster.

Noticed that! laugh

You're actually worse than me, which is really going some! laugh

As for the storm over the 360 footage leak, just one question: is it actually the finished build, or a test run that was basically a beta? Without that info, any judgement cannot be properly made.

Well, the article I linked seems to claim that the Xbox 360 version has been torrented. So my guess is that someone who got the game early (store or reviewer) simply torrented it.

I went onto the Skyrim torrent on Pirate Bay (I'm not going to link to it for obvious reasons) and this is what someone who played it had said:

"The game works fine people. I burnt it with ImgBurn following the standard instructions for XGD3 ISOS..
But I'm really sad to say that Graphic-wise, this is a BIG disappointment..! (at least this xbox version). It's a step back from Oblivion. The character's faces are grainy, dark and ugly with almost no expressions and stiff animations. The overall world textures look blurry and low-res. The animations of character movements look stiff. The Physx engine seems cut down (there is no more rag-doll effect on dead characters). You cant pick up and move objects and dead bodies in realtime like in Oblivion (although you can examine objects in the inventory). Overall it's a huge disappointment for me. A game released 5+ years ago looks better then this..
What the hell is going on? Lately there seems to be a tendency of new games looking worse than their older counterparts! (Rage, Crysis 2 anyone?) I really really hope the PC version fares better."

Nothing on gameplay but it only confirms what I saw in the leaked footage (which you can also probably find on Pirate Bay).

IMO, I couldn't care if graphics are bad or not, Skyrim looks okay in this department but about the stiff animations, well that's one of the reasons why I hated Oblivion. You can't get immersed when fighting a character who doesn't look or "feel" natural.

The guy who wrote the comment I posted above obviously isn't aware of this new article:

Article (Paraphrase): 'The game looks as good at 6 feet away on XBox as it does at 2 feet on PC.' Anyone else translate that as 'PC graphics are vastly superior'? Which they SHOULD be, let's be honest. No offence to console gamers, but the tech on the most recent consoles is five years out of date.

What the f***ck is going on with some guys ? frown

HOW, in Gods sake, can somebody say HOW Skyrim really is ??? The game isn't out on the market yet !!
Those who downloaded it or whatever ... that's probably illegale !

O, and it's simply to dumb down a upcoming game :
just download it illegale and play it on a pc with the lowest settings so it looks bad and then say it's the Xbox version :hihi:

Or, that's also possible: just because the guy did it illegale, in some way a "script" do a dirty job and make the illegale download blurry ...

Sorry, I can't never believe Bethesda create a new RPG making it worser graphic wise than Oblivion !!
And if this is the case I'm sure Bethesda loose many many fans and many many big negative comments would shout in the internet or in Bethesda's mailbox !! They can't take just a big risk !!

I clearly remember many comments about the very first version of Divinity II Ego Draconis on xbox :
so many gamers found it very ugly ! I like it very much, but to be honest, the Remastered version The Dragon Knight Saga is much more enjoyable looking at the graphics (but the gameplay was already fun fun fun !!) A few months ago I started up Ego Draconis (first version) and woow, what a big difference with the DKS !
