Forgive me for posting what may seem a noob post, as I have only had the game for a week now. When I try to insert charms into gear I am always told I do not meet the requirements to do so. According to what I read here, there is supposed to be an ADD CHARM option showing in the right-click menu but I have not seen it yet. With my character at level 21, I would have thought this capability to be open to me now! Or is there some quest or something I need to do to enable this somehow? Thanks for any help!

There is no quest or anything needed to be able to (permanently) add charms to equipment. I have the Xbox version and never used charms, but IIRC selecting equipment and hitting the A button would give the equip/unequip option, as well as charm (if there were charms and empty charm slots available), 'sent to battle tower' (when obtained) and destroy (unless it was a quest item).

Do you have a piece of equipment with one or more empty charm slots? Try one your character is wearing, if you were trying it in the inventory, or vise versa. By level 21 you should be getting charm and enchantment slots on most equipment.

Do you have charms in your inventory? If you have the battle tower, you can not add charms that are in the chest there, just from your character's inventory. Alchemy and enchantment ingredients can be used from the battle tower chest.


Did you check the manual? Other than a paper manual with the retail release, there should also be a pdf (manual_en.pdf) on the DVD, or with the Steam version in the folder below (I assume something similar for other digital distributions).

Thanks for telling me where the PDF manual was at, as this is the first game I've bought thru Steam where such a thing should be there! Not that it was of much help in answering my question. I didn't see anything here on inserting charms at all. Yeah, I've got a lot of gear on me that has empty charm slots AND charms in my backpack. (Not in chest in Battle Tower.) There is no option to 'Add charm' when I right-click on them as was described in another post. Whenever I try to drag one over and drop it onto a gear item that has an empty charm slot, I'm told I do not yet met the requirements to use it. Maybe I missed some mini-quest of some sort early on that would open this up, though I don't think so! Or one that I haven't quite gotten to yet, but as I've got my tower and am exploring the last region I would have thought this would have occurred sooner.

When you right click on a piece of equipment with an empty charm slot, what is listed in the menu that comes up? Is there any difference if the gear is equipped as opposed to just being in your inventory (other than 'equip' changing to 'unequip')?

You should be able to add charms to equipment as soon as you have a charm and something with a charm slot. AFAIK nobody has mentioned anything weird with not being able to add charms if the game was paused, or not paused, etc.


If there was just a glitch with the game not recognizing that you have charms, from outside the battle tower try right clicking on all the charms you have and sending them to the battle tower, then return to the battle tower, head to the chest in the master's chamber, remove a couple charms, switch to the inventory window and right click a piece of equipment with a charm slot. Maybe that will get the charm entry showing in the equipment right click menu.

Thanks! The menu entry is there and I was able to add charms into the gear with empty slots! Whew! Was worried I had a corrupted install from Steam or something...
