You have to destroy the towers that spawns flying ennemies.

Then there will be a cutscene and you will go automatically to the tower again.
Try to dodge incoming attacks, that fight should be easy.

You have to defeat most of the opponents and nests/ballistas before you will automatically return to the battle tower (there is no way to go back early in this encounter).

If you use Target Lock (left trigger) and circle around a ballista, you should be able to easily take it out at close range with Dragonbreath or longer range with Fire Sphere. Don't head directly towards a ballista you wish to attack (fly at an angle or come from around or behind one of the flying fortress sections) and they shouldn't be able to hit you very much, if at all. The number of ballistas at the start of the fight makes them more dangerous, but once you take out a few, that stops being an issue.

They are not really fast turning, so attack quickly, break off, heal if necessary, circle around a bit and attack again from a different direction.

Lowering the game difficulty, if you are not already playing on casual, should help.

In the original release of D2:ED you would have a dragon skill point at that point you could put into Dragon Spirit, but a skill book (given by the librarian in Maxos temple) was removed in DKS. You can still get one if you explore the fjords before getting the battle tower, though (the book will still be there later, if you don't get it early).

Did you equip any dragon armour you may have found? Another couple are available shortly after you finish that fight.

If you fly away behind the battle tower you should be pretty safe, and can use a spell or potions to heal, etc.

On the Xbox, a burst of speed is triggered by the left shoulder button. On the PC this is done by right clicking or hitting the 'E' key.

D2:ED topics (though pretty much the same in DKS);

Go through the battle tower, talk to everyone and loot the place (with your trainer you can unlearn your skills if you wish, and have the gold, or raise the level cap of some), then head back outside on Sentinel Island to finish off the remaining opponents. You can now get to the boat in the tree to retrieve the treasure that someone wanted (now moved up beside the only remaining teleporter outside), though you may want to use it yourself rather than complete that quest. There are also a couple other things of note to find, as well as a few chests in wyvern nests with random loot.

After that, head to the fjords and start exploring. The mountain path and beaches would be the easiest to do first, and there are several caves you can reach on foot or by flying. There is a barrier blocking off the start of the fjords, which you will need to disable to continue farther.

Thanks, is there a Skill Point Build Guide on this forum? I thought I saw one but might have been on another site.
Playing Warrior, Stg/Vit
One Hand Weapon (Blood Eschelon Set for now)
I have Summon Undead (seems useful in early game)
Will I be able to make more than one creature from parts as i progress?
Will probably play Ranger next time just to see.

Thanks for your help.

You won't be able to make more than one creature from parts.
And the Ghost is better than Summon Undead for a warrior, Ghost can heal you.

There are many guides, and as many ways to build your character, all viable.
Concentrate on a few skills, max them out, then add more.

The DKS FAQ/Guide contains sections on bonus skill and stat points. There are a couple forum topics for D2:ED listing skill/stat books and mindreads, but I don't recall if there are any for DKS (minor changes were made).

There is some discussion of stats and skills in the topic Anyone help a newb with Warrior build ... ???, and even a bit on rangers.

As Melianos said, you can only build (and upgrade) one creature, so you only need to keep the best of each type of part you find. I kept a list of my best parts handy, so I could sell any lower quality ones before talking to a necromancer, to help keep the part list from getting too cluttered.
You can have the creature active as well as one summon, though.

If you want a fighter summon, the demon is better than the undead, once you meet the level requirement. The ghost can heal you (though not necessarily exactly when you want it to) or cast fireballs at opponents.
