As I'm in the US it looks like I'm excluded then. As I see it digital distribution has only blurred the lines between purchased and pirated copies. I want my games to come on a disc and in a box to prove that own it.

Give it time, that sentence will be accurate eventually. And by then I probably still won't have seen a copy of the other game.

I can't buy a hard copy?I was a little disappointed that the DVD version needs online activation (instead of disc check), so basically it still suffers from the issues I was trying to avoid with a soft copy (ie being reliant on someone's validation servers being active in 2018 or whenever I feel a bit nostalgic and want to go back to replay the game).
That's unfortunate. When I buy something I expect to be able to use it without challenge of ownership or needing to ask for permission first.
I hope Dragon Commander won't be so overbearing with it's DRM and actally be available for sale to people who want it.
