If the zombie dude that you are talking about is from the catacombs, you can't get him back. The statue mentions that he will be your protector as long as you remain in the catacombs. Once you leave, his service is done and he is allowed that eternal rest that he's been waiting for. I liked him. He reminded me of the rock golem that you could summon in the original Diablo. | | |

You get experience points along with the zombie. I found him much too slow to be of any help in the demo. In the game, I left him until I had opened the way to the second level, went and got him, and brought him immediately to the surface.

And he steals away my XP's during the fights. So I was angry at him and teleporter up to the surface, at least I released him from his pain
There is always hope

He makes for a fine meatwall, though. Skeletal Guardians and Lords are hellatough, and there's several in the catacombs that need dealt with. I'd just back up until lumpy got in the way, and let him get pounded. Once the Guardian was nearly dead, I'd bravely run in there and try to steal the killing blow.
Besides, skeletons just aren't worth that much XP; stealing the 100 or so XP on those probably won't make any difference when you get to level 50.

You will rue the day you opposed me! Begin your rueing! I'll just... sit over here... and watch.

not so at a higher level, but at a lower lvl the 100 xp IS important.

He's not worth the lost xp, because he doesn't just kill the big bad mobs, he kills everything in sight, just get the quest, go up and he dies.

He works alright if you just wait until you are going to the last level of the catacombs...
