In the videos thus far, I haven't seen the option of having a "zoomed in" view. In light of that, as a single-player, I would not care if there was face customization. I usually care more about the look of the character induced by armor and skills.
As for the multi-player views, I am guessing people might join and want to know what armor I am wearing.
