Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) General oldies and goldies

Just wandering around with everything new regarding games and i'm kind of disappointed with what's new on the market and remembered this awesome game divine divinity. Seen that there are some recent posts so maybe someone will replay to a noobs question : what is the latest version of the game ( seen it on GOG for $5.99 wow ! ); and is it bug free ? ( the old bugs with game crashes or bugged quests especially regarding tingalf in market area- yep i still remember that name ). Lost the cd i had and want to play it again but wandering if any changes since the release. thanks

The GOG Version was updated by Larian once again so a few bugs were fixed but there´s still plenty left.
Im not sure about the Tingalf quest but in general it isnt a good idea to do the quests in a weird order (happens if you play the first time often) or to carry items with the skill "Magic Barrier" ever because it might lower your resistances to unbelievable levels (e.g. -106783) so you instantly die after one attack.
It´s also a bad idea to carry items that gives you +1 on a skill you already maxed out to lvl. 5 because it causes weird bugs too. (e.g. Aura of Command makes you control an endless amount of resurrected or summoned monsters instead of just five)


But all of this won´t be a major problem as long as you save every half hour or just read through the Help/Tips/Tricks & Technical Problems forum.

For the list of bug fixes you probably have to send an email to the support forum of GOG or wait for some of the oldies in the forum to help you out.

The latest download version is 1.005a, which is what is on GOG; the latest disk version is 1.0034a. There were some new bugs introduced in the first download release (1.004a), which the update fixed, but unfortunately, re-introduced some bugs that were fixed in the earlier patches. There was mention of another possible update in the topic Status update (long overdue), but that was a year ago.

I've already played Divine to the end (GOG version 1.005a) and I'm currently replaying DD more than one time (in fact: with a few different hero's ) ... but the only strange and sad bug is that the version is missing some MUSIC parts (or at least: going in the Inn Dwarven Bread Inn or Blue Boar Inn the music don't change ! But in the Inn in Verdistis the music is okay.

Don't know if I meet the bugs DrEnigma talk about. I remember I used Magic Bariere, but never see Resistance values below zero on my Stats window ... no problems with any quest ... but I know some quests ask for careful dialog choices ... but this was also true with the disc version, not ?

And for $5.99 you can't let it be unplayed !
