There will be a Divinity 3, Larian just wanted to do something slightly different before continuing with the DD/BD/D2:ED/FoV story line (though D:OS focuses on events leading up to DD, so it isn't a huge departure). IMO it would be dumb not to also continue with story of the dragon knights in future RPGs. There are several topics with suggestions for and speculation about Divinity 3.
