I should have mentioned I did search their homes in the first village before remembering they had gone off to Rivertown.
I did go into, and around, the courtyard in the Cursed Abbey (not in the Abbey, as it says somewhere it's best to be in the level 20s to enter) but didn't find it. However, there is a spot on the main map in the NW corner which looks like a teleporter but is hidden by a building. I did try to walk all over that part of the courtyard but nothing happened. Is that where it is?
So far, it is only the teleporter stones and those hay stacks (to make a portable bed) that I have trouble picking up (although I now have a straw bed in my inventory to use). If I can pick things up using the ALT key there's no problem.
As for the mouse, I play on a laptop and use a mouse because I coudln't get used to the touchpad thingy. It's about 2-3 years old so might treat myself to a new one to see if that improves the control.
Anyway, thanks again for helping a newbie. Much appreciated and hope you won't mind a few more questions if necessary.
