You may have found this already, but:
Freeze at loading screen, can't exit to Windows.
Did you try skipping through the conversation, rather than let it end on its own?
If you browse to the video folder in Windows Explorer, can you identify the cutscene video by name, and see if it plays in Windows Media Player?
For DKS you could try switching to windowed mode and see if that lets you get past that cutscene:
