Thanks for the replies, folks. The problem I'm having is that you have to kill him in about 15 seconds no matter what. As soon as the chambers become active again he instantly teleports into one of them. You can't knock his HP down, then try and run to turn off the machines a second time, then knock his HP down some more. The chambers can't be turned off again until they're turned back on but the instant that happens he instantly teleports into one or the other. So it just isn't possible to do it any other way than by killing him within a very short period of less than 15 seconds, because it takes a few seconds jut to get from where the lever is to where he is in the middle of the room. I found that I actually have only about 10-12 seconds to kill him which just doesn't seem doable. I did a quicksave right after pulling the two levers, so I immediately jump to Raze and start hitting with evrything. But even with a 9 point fireball and epic dual weapons it still takes more than ten seconds to kill him.
I guess the only way to do this is to drop it down to normal but it just seems that this one fight is ridiculously difficult, it's hugely imbalanced given that Raze is three levels below my character. I can kill him pretty fast but not in 10 seconds or less.
Edit: I finally did it at hard difficulty but it was incredibly tough. I managed to turn the chambers off a second time by breaking away very quickly after a few hits, then going back and finishing him off. Don't know why it didn't seem to work the other times I tried, but at least I got through it.

Edit 2: Now if I could just figure out why I can't get my musician to play Rambler from Slavs a second time I'll be happy.
