At first I thought I would just simply be choosing between the two candidates, but NO the island makes you choose who lives and who dies! Sure you could not pick, but then it makes the decision for you, so somebody still dies because of you!

I found Sentinel Island to be very tough going because of that. The music seemed strangely poignant.

Should I feel bad that I eliminated Igor merely for his voice and Allen for his personality? I let Hermosa and Kenneth duel, which provided a decisive result (though did reload to try the conversation different ways, but then let them fight again to see if the outcome was random). Radcliff made a better sword, but I went with Wesson in small part because he had a wife and Radcliff was a drunk (not that it made any difference in enchantments, but I also figured at the time it would be better to have a bias towards armour, since there would be more armour to enchant than weapons). I happened to end up with arguably all the best servants in terms of the platform upgrade quests ( Sentinel Island Servant picks....).

I find myself tending to make the same choices! Igor's voice is annoying, though I think he also seems to have, er, "dependability issues"... The toughest choice for me was probably Hermosa & Kenneth: although I found Kenneth to be slightly arrogant, he still seemed a decent chap. And whilst Radcliff was certainly the better swordsmith, I just found Wesson and his wife to be eminently more likeable... But I still didn't like having to make the choices. Then again I like to think that (getting off the point, so beware of spoilers, OP!) most of the people on the island managed to escape the unpleasantness alongside Turgoyn, who safely got to higher ground, whatever the PC thinks about Henry & Eleanor's likely fate in FoV; and that most of the inhabitants of Broken Valley village got away on Sepp's Zeppelin, which is perhaps not entirely unreasonable since a few are known to have made it to Aleroth. I obviously spent far too much time thinking about this stuff!

Igor certainly doesn't come off as trustworthy, but then Jonelath is a little too enthusiastic about his work, which I wasn't entirely comfortable with, either. About your spoiler: The miners you free from the quarry tower run outside and disappear, so either they can climb better that you can as a dragon knight, or (more likely) they have a spell or device to protect them from the poison (air quality being a major concern in mines). At least some of the people not mentioned in Aleroth may have escaped the poison (don't know how thorough Damian's troops were, though), and headed somewhere other than the fjords or Aleroth.
On Sentinel Island, Michael was building a raft...
and made it away from the island, at least. You can find the raft (and his diary) hung up on a rock north east of the island.
Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of either of them, and both were a bit too enthusiastic about Damian. But at least Jonelath seemed content to stick to his work without planning creative means of bringing about my demise!
Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about the miners. First time I played I managed to free them (with great difficulty) before the Sentinel Island section so it wasn't quite such a mystery, though apparently that wasn't supposed to be able to happen which is why the doors now remain locked until an appropriate stage. After which I did wonder how they managed to get away.
Regarding the inhabitants of Broken Valley in general, I figured it was possible that, since "Talana" had advanced warning of Damian's fleet arriving, others may have too and made their escape, possibly including Elsa and Fanny who were presumed to be caught up in the unpleasantness; though I think it's unrealistic to assume everyone would have got away judging by the screams and Damian's self-satisfied sneer when he attacks Broken Valley village. Part of me thinks it's silly to be this bothered, but I guess a game is doing something right if I am!
I didn't even know about Michael's raft, though in my game it's still moored with Michael's body on it; although I guess your point is that he was well on the way to Orobas Fjords by then...

Actually, now that you mention it, I think I just forgot that aspect you mentioned in your game. Apparently he made it off the island before or during the attack, but not out of range of the poison.
