For some reason the same thing happened to me the last time I re-installed DD. Copying the shroud.x2 file from the startup folders didn't help, or extracting it from the patch or play CD. However, starting a new game and teleporting to the Dark Forest resulted in a normal fog of war. You can download this zipped
