Great update!

I did see a FAQ question that could stand a bit of clarification:

Q: Will Dragon Commander have day/night battles?
A:
Yes, it will.

Does that mean that the battles can change from day to night if they last long enough? Or are they fixed as day or night only for however long the battle takes?

Thanks!

Had a plane to catch!
At airport now. It takes the same amount of clicks for you though so the inconvenience should be limited wink

Is it cause I'm watching through Linux or is it just the new site that's being updated right now? Cause it sucks the way I'm seeing it now.

Who is Prospera btw? Is she our council/adviser from the very beginning or was she just used for the trailer? I like her design, a lot, but not sure about the voice (just personal preferences).

Yay! Good news indeed. I liked the trailer and I also liked the lizard lady's voice.

Weirdly, though, the new site mentions that you have to "simultaneously please the councillors of dwarves, elves, lizards, imps and undead". Are there no humans in this world or are they automatically on your/the enemy's side and you just don't have to pay that much attention to them?

But... but... from what I've seen in Divinity 2, the Dragon Knights seem to drift away from their humanity and embrace being a dragon over being a human. The humans around the Dragon Knight certainly take that attitude - especially in the expansion.

So why would a Dragon Knight represent humanity?

Site looks good, but I had a couple questions that weren't in the FAQ. Will Dragon Commander be a $50 or $60 release, and also will it be available through steam?

@Karnacjr: It's currently planned for a 39,99$ release on Steam & GOG
@Wotananubis: Good point actually, we didn't look at it that way

A) Because his father was a king, he was a prince, presumably trained in leadership,
B) He's the leader of an alliance in a war
C) He's young enough to know his father, not hundreds of years old like the Dragon Knights you see in Divinity 2, who have outlived all their family and friends many times over, so he probably would still be tied strongly to his humanity.
D) We didn't really have much time with actual Dragon Knights, did we? We had 5 minutes with Talana, 10 minutes with Lovis the imprisoned spirit, 5 minutes with the imprisoned and angry Amdusias, and the rest of the game was with Ygerna who was impersonating a Dragon Knight.

Fair enough. But from what little I remember of the lore, Dragon Knights were something of a separate, powerful ruling class lording it all over the little people (which, granted, doesn't make them inhuman) and people started thinking of them as actual dragons because the real dragons just kind of faded away and disappeared.

Plus, in Divinity 2, I believe you already had the option to define yourself as a Dragon Knight. Which you could compare to a person transforming into a wolf under the full moon defining themselves primarily as a werewolf rather than a human with a cursed power. If you get my meaning.

Finally, when people talk to you, the Dragon Knight, they seem to put particular emphasis on the Dragon part and not so much the Knight part. There is at least one NPCs in Flames of Vengeance who comments on your hot, sulphurous breath. Even if the Dragon Knights do not actually have such a breath in their human form, it still means the Knight is considered more dragon than human.

So if the Dragon Knight(s) consider themselves a dragon and everybody else considers them to be dragons, it could be argued that they are dragons (sort of). Yes, they start out human, but then again, so do vampires.

So, you know, the Dragon Knights may be ruling lords and all that, but it's difficult to see them as representatives of the human population. To me, anyway.

EDIT: Also, my opinion may be somewhat influenced by the fact that I'm tired of playing as humans in fantasy games and am therefore more prone to viewing Dragon Knights as an interesting fantasy race that simply aren't that human.

Plus Dragon Commander is waaaay before those events of the Dragon Knight saga. Things might not always have been the same.

The video was great. The new strategy map looks really slick, and the graphics and units look so much better, especially now that everything is close to the ground.

I didn't know that Bellegar's first name is Charles, though.

Dragon themselves do not take place in human's wars and issues, and we all know even during the "golden age" of Dragon Knight there wasn't so much of them (the dragon knights; most of them we can name, dead or alive) and they were chosen very carefully and throughly. Fighting in the "dragons" side or "dragon knights" side make no sense because of these spoken reasons. So, which side would chosoe half-human half-dragon creature? Orcs? Damian's? Goblins? Lizards? I think the answer is pretty much obvious.

Can't wait for this game^^. Hmmm small question tho, if there is no human councilor, that means no human princess either or it will be like "You are a human prince! we wanted you to have her as a wife -human princess appears- well...that was when your father was alive soo now ehh... well we will see!" and what about the imps, do they have a sorta succubus princess or demonical impish girl? just curious!
