After looking at Divinity: Dragon commander videos from gamespot and Larian studios I am very excited and looking forward to playing this game. I play Real time strategy games fairly often, such as Command and Conquer, Starcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Supreme commander, and a few others and Dragon commander seems to have alot of unique and interesting features I have not seen in an RTS before. (The world map reminds me of "Risk" quite a bit.)

Though I have a few questions:

1: Will marrying a princess be mandatory? (yes or no won't change whether or not I play the game but it would be a little annoying if it was a requirement.)
In RPG's that allow you to marry someone I generally stay single and move on for a few reasons. a: characters are not always "likeable." Intelligence, or the lack there-of make them very unfavorable, then have little to nothing interesting to say afterwards. b: They tend to just stay at home and do absolutely nothing but LOOK productive. C: Little to no impact on the actual story or the events that unfold so its just there for bragging rights half the time.
Now, It does look like Larian Studios is addressing all of these and it sounds like the characters may be given more depth and likability as a character in the full game but Maybe have the OPTION to marry one, not a requirement. It sounded like in the Q&A that your character was told that you must marry soon. I would think "I am running an army, I am fighting against forces that threaten our world and they will not wait for me to get married to begin their assault, they will attack at any time, There will be time to find a wife AFTER the war."
Besides, if one of the main things they do for you is increase influence among one of the races in the game then maybe to make it maybe slightly more "challenging" make it optional so you can work from scratch to gain the influence and trust of each nation.

2: Will you be able to customize your dragon appearance?
I understand you are all adding a few varieties of dragons to choose from based on different play styles but will we be able to customize how the dragon looks? Color, size, shape, jet pack, etc? That could help with the RPG elements to the game for single player AND multiplayer.

3:How many units will we have access to? A year ago I seen gameplay footage that soon some larger ships besides the bombers and fighters, similar to your command ship. In recent gameplay footage I seen 3 navel units, 4 ground units from the factory and 3 air units but I am not sure about the barracks. Are more units unlocked later or are more in development? Would be cool to see more options in combat with more units.

4: how will "auto resolve" work in multiplayer? Will both sides have to select auto resolve or will the attacker determine how it works? Auto resolve can be good if you are in a hurry but I would like all involved parties to "agree" on using auto resolve since several games I have played before gave results that were completely irritating, like my air fleet in one game going up against a task force that has no anti air to speak of and my air fleet gets destroyed in the auto resolve! Hopefully the calculations will be better then that here but either way, I would be interested in knowing how it would work in multiplayer.

I may think of more questions later but I do have a few suggestions, IF they are not being implemented but I think may be interesting features to keep people interested and playing.

1: Will there be a "free flying" mode? After beating the campaign what about being able to freely fly through different regions without the pressure of a battle that needs to be won? Perhaps some collectibles that may unlock some new skins and customization options for your character, maybe skins for your units. Would also be nice to be able to fly freely from time to time just for fun.

2: Multiple playable factions.
I see there are different paths you can take with the given faction from the gameplay videos that have been released but I do not see any videos where you play as another faction shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBqrcOte9pE Are we still fighting against whoever those forces belong to and will they be playable in multiplayer? I think having at least 2 playable factions would make combat more varied and less predictable and more interesting. (this game has come a VERY long way from when this video was posted, I am extremely impressed by the way.)

I'll come up with more suggestions later but this is good for now, I hope to hear feedback on these thoughts and ideas and look forward to hearing a response. Keep up the great work and I look forward to playing Dragon Commander.

1. It sounds like it, but it's a political marriage, to increase your support from one of the factions. It's not a marriage for love. That's why you can't marry a normal human.

You can take their story in a non-romantic path if you choose (or a romantic one, probably.) Each princess has a story arc that has branches and different ending points. I bet the relationship also affects and is affected by your relationship with their race.

3: I think they said that there are at least 13 types of ground units. There may be as many as 15 types, I'm not sure.

1: I understand its for political purposes but if you don't want a "boost" in political power with one race after beating the game a with each princess and you want a challenge in case you beat the game at maximum difficulty so you have to work harder for the respect of each race, maybe marry a princess later. Perhaps even get a chance to work with each race a little bit first before finally making a choice.

3: Wow, that is a decent number though I hope that is not mostly mercenaries, though the mercenaries sound pretty interesting, like Starcraft 2. I am interested in seeing more units as development progresses.

Also, a new question, will there be a beta test coming up at some point? I played Divinity 2 when it came out and though there were some fun aspects to the game (dragon form was AWESOME!) the game was riddled with bugs and glitches that were game-breaking. I would like some certainty that the game is not going to have so many issues though everything looks amazing at this point in time.
Oh, and how is the Remastered version of Divinity 2 in the "Dragon knight saga" copy? been debating on getting it though I still have the "Ego Draconus" version.

1. As Stabbey said it likely won't be anything you can put off. You're in a war an need to secure an alliance to improve your legitmacy as the Emperor's Bastard. What with the quest structure as it is the team would need you to make a choice at a given time in order to allow the game-world to adapt to it. Like if you were close to beating the game but then decided to marry the dwarf princess would you still be able to do her quests?

And as Stabbey said there is essentially two aspects to the marriage: Romance or Politics. You will gain rewards either way but it will be a choice between the Princess' agenda which may go against the wishes of her faction and improving your lot with the faction. Take the Undead Princess.

(Ophelia)

Princess Ophelia is reportedly not happy being an undead. Having once been among the living she wishes to return to full life. You may marry her to gain the support of one of the most powerful factions in the game but you will have to decide if you want her to be consigned to her fate of undeath - or help her. This will involve some difficult choices but if you choose to help her she will somehow be brought back to life as an attractive human woman (the only one you can marry in the game). This will enrage the undead, many of whom have accepted their condition and even melded it to their religious beliefs - thus you will see a major decrease in contentment with their faction.

2. Yes you will be able to customize your dragon appearance in single-player and multi-player both aspects and looks of the dragon, in fact if you look at the front page there is a promotion featuring a gold jetpack.

Beta Question:

They are having in-house beta testing in Ghent.

The gold jetpack is from a DLC code included in the retail version of the Divinity Anthology. There was a Chinese New Year DLC promo offer early last year for a silver jetpack. The webpage is still up, so you can try submitting your email address to get in on the deal.

I don't know how auto resolve works in miltiplayer, but there may be a multiplayer mode with just the tactical map gameplay (ie pre-set to auto resolve).

I liked flying in Divinity 2 to get around, so that option in DC would be nice. Unless you can enter a territory not under attack and do something to support the defences, or intimidate / impress a disgruntled population, etc, it might be a little boring. You could let the AI handle combat in one turn to visit an area that needs a moral / productivity / allegiance boost, etc.

Since you have D2:ED, you may be able to get a free upgrade to D2:DC (essentially DKS with an added cheat mode). See Divinity 2: Developer's Cut and Anthology on Steam.

Oh a free upgrade for Divinity 2? That would be cool, though I have the Xbox 360 version of Ego Draconus, would I still be able to get the upgrade?

Thanks for the information and the welcome.

I don't think mercenaries are a separate type, I think they're one of the standard types that can be built from a structure, just with a flag that says "these don't count towards survival rate at mission end".

No, AFAIK the offer to upgrade D2:ED/FoV/DKS to D2:DC is PC only. There was no separate release of FoV on Xbox, and of course no re-release for the anthology, so you'll have to get DKS to finish the story of the dragon knight.

Got another suggestion.
Watching the Q&A on youtube again I see that apparently each unit says the same thing when they are trained and leaving the production structure. I know almost EVERY RTS does that but it can still be a LITTLE annoying over time, maybe add one or two sayings so that you don't hear, for example "Grenadiers, ready for duty" 6x in a few seconds. I gotten used to it but still would be nice to fix that.

Anyway, I have other suggestions and questions unanswered in the first post so if any Larian studios member sees that, I am interested in hearing your response and feedback.
Thank you everyone for your responses so far. It is very much appreciated.
As always, keep up the great work.

And another question/idea
Will there be the option to have individual battles on a single battlefield instead of going through the whole "Conquest" mode? The Conquest mode looks awesome and a lot of fun but maybe on occasion I would like to just engage in ONE fight a free for all, 1v1, 2v2, or 1v3 even on just one big battlefield.
maybe if this idea is implemented, how about a sort of tech tree/build option where you can save different "pages" of different types of builds in order to have everything in your preferred build(s) during these single battles. Perhaps have this as an option in custom games whether or not you want it enabled, maybe even a "tech level" for how far the host wants the technology on the tech tree to reach in this individual match. Perhaps throwing in randomly generated cards as an optional feature at the start of the match. That could make things interesting.

And how about matches that are JUST dragon battles. no units beside the dragon and when you run out of "recruits" you lose.

Let me know what you think.

Another thought:
In the Q&A it was mentioned that the maps "wrap around" and you can do sneak attacks on your opponent from just simply by sending units around the map and you end up actually being only a couple spaces away from the enemy capital.
To counter sneak attacks, will there be a function where if one players unit markers on the world map cross paths with another players units from the opposing team, will it automatically start a battle or will units be able to just bypass enemy units with or without "stealth" or any equivalent that might be implemented into this game? I would like to be able to set up a blockade by the coast near by capital to help ensure I don't get attacked from behind.

Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing this game in July, keep up the great work Larian Studios!

And as an extra thing, I posted a video on my thoughts on Dragon Commander a bit to create more awareness. I am looking forward to this game!

So I just played Strike Suit Infinity, and really enjoyed the feel of it and would suggest that if its not too late taking some inspiration for the dragon combat from it. Like double tapping movement controls to thrust, left click fires normal weapon, right click strong weapon, and really just the very fluid feeling of It all
