Saw a post already about whips. They are primarily only in the Castlevania franchise.
Whips are mainly the main weapon used by the protagonists of Castlevania yeah but they aren't limited to the franchise... Neverwinter Nights had whips as equippable weapons. Dark Souls also featured them. Would love to see whips in Original Sin. Not the leather type. The chain type. A heretic thought - unarmed fighting? I can think of a hundred reasons why not to use it, i.e. less magic items to boost the stats... but it is at least worth considering, no? They could just do what NWN did and implement a monk class (skill tree in Original Sin's case). Monks could equip gloves, gauntlets and boots to enhance their abilities. What's not effective with spiked metal gloves and boots? List of weapons I would like to see... - Whips. Chain whips. - Spears. - Pole-axes. - Great-hammers.

personnaly I am interesetd in the idea that everything can be use as a weapon. there is generic kind of weapon (swords, axe, shield, wand, staff etc...) and we could put everything in those generic kind like for example, a cat can be use as an hammer.... One of the things that I love about PnP RPG is the freedom I have, as long as the DM is willing (and able :p) to cooperate. A session of exodus comes to mind, where my supermutant character started throwing anything that wasn't nailed to the ground at the enemies, including enemies and random excrements. It was hilarious. But, with PnP games it's all about your imagination, which is a lot more powerful than a 3D graphics engine. Hitting someone with a rubber chicken can be hilarious in your head, but pathetic and pointless on screen. Being able to use anything as a weapon can be awesome, but I think it is very hard to do it properly for a digital RPG, and should be approached with a lot of care.

I saw someone had mentioned unarmed already, but its something that I really am a fan of. Pretty much fell in love with RPG's with Icewind Dale 2 (and the monk class).
Depending on the level of effort you are interested in putting into the weapons/damage mechanics, you could create "hand weapons" for monk-like classes (quills, oils, needles, etc.) that would modify the way a monk-like class fights, making them a kind of jack of all trades depending on equipment.

I'm hoping for: Unarmed/fist weapons Staves- both magical and physical based. Swords/Axes/Maces- both 1 handed and 2 handed. Daggers Spears/Halberds- would be cool having 1h and 2h spears as well. Bows/Crossbows
Dual wielding, imo, should be in the game as well.

hopefully two-handed Tridents and fist weapons, and nice big fat two-handed maces( bigger than the hereos).
If unarmed combat, make some nice kung fu moves.

I dont like the specialisation on specific weapon types. I would like the categories based on the weight and size. Maybe like that:
light weapons: single handed only -light swords, daggers, knives, ... -light and fast firing bows, arrows which could be poisoned
medium weapons: single and double handed -medium swords, axes, ... -shields -bows and crossbows, explosive arrows
heavy weapons: two handed weapons -heavy swords, battleaxes, warhammers -awesome overpowered crossbows, multiple explosive arrows
Your regular stats would define which weapon type would be better for your character. Like when you have more strenght, you would be better with weapons like axes and hammers. When you have more dexterity you would be better with knives, bows,... of course a weapontype could profit from more than one stat.

Getting back to the topic of unarmed. It is my personal favourite, however I will probably hesitate using it, if I loose two pieces of equipment and their enchantment and charm slots. An offset should be considered. Or a weapon type that can go with unarmed. So how can you arm an unarmed fighter? Gloves, gauntlets are already on the hands. Technically it is possible to combine gloves with knuckles or some such, however I tried that and it is extremely unwieldy. Think -30 Dexterity I considered enchantable\charmable bracelets. I did not see a bracelet on the character inventory - so how about it? Or armguards\bracers? Also - scythes! Wicked! Me waaaantz! And something else What about wizard weaponry... Orbs? One handed wands? (Expeliarmus! xD)

the Weapons that the melee-thugs had in DD were quite cool. Pro scythes and spears from me too but i think wands are boring, Orbs or special magical items of magical creatures like the horn of the last unicorn, a dragon tooth, the spine of a vampire or the head of a weresheep would be hillarious.

On Top of my scythe suggestion, i also like Knuckle and Claw weapons.
i've recently become fond of the idea of beating the ever loving crap out of enemies with my bare hands.

* as usual this is imho (unless stated otherwise); feel free to disagree, ignore or try to change my mind. Agreeing with me is ofc also allowed, but makes for much worse flamewarsarguments.
It is a full moon night and ... bèèè! ... the Weresheep are out...

I have a weapon suggestion complete with how you can make it with the combo. If you find a pitch fork etc. on a farm by a bale of hey and a staff/stick you combine them to make a .... trident. pretty neat huh? If you also find a fishing net (combined with stones) would be cool if you could either use it as a weapon or if playing a rogue character a trap you can set. When a skeleton comes in bam fish in a barrel. Obviously if you attack him with bladed weapon or fire it would destroy the net but a club or trident would not.
