I just got this game yesterday and I'm just starting the first few quests to ge the mage's sanity back, and I'm finding some really good items that are worth a considreable amount (mostly axes adn the like) but the merchant George can't buy them at full price, are there any other merchants in the first town? also, when I click the trade button it shows my "pile of gold" then below my icon it shows a much larger number like 16000 or something, what does that mean? I've searched to read me and manual but I can't find anything! one last thing, can i put items in a chest or what not and pick them up later? thank you.

If you can't trade for full value of your items you can literally give them away if you really need something and don't have enough gold for it. That would make the merchants have a higher empathy towards you. Or you can store those items somewhere( you can make a mark on your map to remind you where you put them) and wait. There are more merchants later on.

The second set of numbers is the value of all your items, including gold.

I could have been very happy not knowing that. "Game over, man! Game over!"

Trade lower quality stuff for potions and equipment in Aleroth; place the high value items in a chest to sell/trade when you find better merchants later. Any items in a chest or on the ground will still be there whenever you go back.

you can also move in to the house in the northeast corner - it's vacant. Pick up a chest or two (or ten!) and carry them home to store stuff. You can sell it later after you leave town and find better merchants.

a good place to get a chest to start off with is to snag the one in jorams basement where you start out.

i, of course, didn't think of this till two seconds ago and i spent quite a while trying to steal one of george's chests.

hey, i'm a thief, i'm just properly roleplaying =)

you might wanna consider having a different chest for each type of item as well.

ie, one for weapons, one for armour, another for potions etc.

no, that's not the system i use. i have two chest that i just throw extra stuff into whatever chest is closest. my floor is crowded with stuff as well. it's hard to walk around my bedroom. =)

You can always litter the ground with all of your items too. Just leave walking space. It is better to get chests, but they will stay on the ground in if you put them there.
