Good points, Stabbey, and I certainly agree with the bulk of them. I don't like elementals that level up and gain xp - they should be more like summoned entities from some elemental plane, and the more you devote skill points and perhaps even magical items and special magical tomes or what not, the more powerful elemental you'll get to summon.
