I saw on the AMA that "cosmetic customization is limited to face, hair, icon, skin color, primary and secondary color, gender, portrait & voice".

Just curious if there might be an option for character height/build as well (or at least a convenient setScale command in the console), so that e.g. if we spec Roderick as a spellcaster and Scarlett as a warrior she won't have to still be half his size.

PS loved divine divinity and DKS and really excited about the shape this is taking so far!

I'm also interested in this. I think, though, that body types work better than body sliders (which almost never seem to yield a decent looking build for me). Something like Dragon's Dogma would be great, where you can choose pretty much any body type you can think of.

I don't think there will be sliders. I don't expect an Oblivion/Skyrim level of customization, and those games don't have height sliders.

They could look at Neverwinter Nights 2 for example, imo they did character customization pretty decently.

I doubt it but I'm sure mods will take care of this.

Bethesda games are -far- from the standard when it comes to character customization, and I Can't think of any game that's had mods take care of body-types. It's just too difficult, as it requires much more complex work than most modders are comfortable with--internal animation skeletons at LEAST.

...That said, there is this:

""Okay, let's clear up some confusion! If you pledge to back a henchman you will get to design a character and yes, he or she will have a unique background and dialogue. The difference between them and companions is simply that the story line of companions will be very deep and diverse - like Dragon Commander. There will be a limited number of them because they require very very much work. We can't possible do that for every henchman. But that is where the difference ends. You'll make the guy or girl you like; design their look; their abilities; their build; their background; what they have to say. They will feel like individuals, not puppets, it's just that they won't have separate quests." Apr. 25, 2013 Kickstarter Update"

So there are definitely different characters builds in the game, which means it shouldn't be too hard to implement build customization in for the player proper. Especially considering that the player can create his or her own henchmen in-game, in addition to the two protagonists.

As I understand it, the main issue with different heights is getting all the animations to match up. Body types shouldn't be so much of a problem, though.

Dragon's Dogma did it perfectly and adjusted every height and weight so they would be recognized in cut scenes. The height and weight didn't just serve for cosmetic purposes either. Longer legs for example meant you could sprint faster while having extra weight (be it fat or muscle) meant you could hold more stamina but it took longer to recover and also you wouldn't be as fast as a tall or skinny person. Small characters on the other-hand were slow but due to their size, enemies had higher chance of missing them with their attacks.

I should play more Dragon's Dogma.

Thanks for reminding me.

Yep, that's actually the main reason why I want Dragon's Dogma. Still haven't gotten around to it.

The main reason why you want it is the combat though :P
