Please help me frown frown Just bought Divinity 2 ... I am not really a gamer and I got the collectors edition... Anthology thing.

Anyway... it has no manual... apparently I can craft? I don't really know how to do that ... or anything else. I have made it to level 7 so far and everywhere I go there are skeletons that kill me very fast in some valley place.

Would love to read a manual and work out how to do things, the tutorial place was no help... I have starting armour that I can't seem to upgrade, everywhere costs to much money...

I'm at this part where I am suppose to go up a tower and meet some lord guy... and the whole place is full of skeletons that kill me in one hit. I have the difficulty slider to the lowest...

---

Is there a way to cheat and give myself armor and gold so I can just play the story? I would love that =) I'm not much interested in this gearing up thing... Also if someone has a guide or any info on the crafting system... I would love that.

I was really enjoying the movie cut scenes and all that till that stupid tower mission from the wizard guy.

GAHH frustrated

There is a pdf manual on the DVD (in a 'manual' folder), and it is installed on the hard drive ('..\'Divinity II - Developers Cut\manuel_en.pdf') and accessible from the Starm menu, All Programs, Divinity Anthology, Divinity II - Developer's Cut, Manual shortcut.

On level 7 you have probably met the alchemist, but will not have made it to the enchanter (level 10-13 would be more appropriate to find him) to be able to add/remove/change enchantments on equipment.

If you have nothing left to do in the starting section of Broken Valley, then first take out the goblins east along the mountain from where you met Talana, or west and up a mountain trail. Both those locations contain a hatch to the derelict tunnel, where you can level some more (and get a bit of loot) before taking on the skeletons around Lovis' tower.

There is no rush to get to Lovis' tower (or any main plot quest, for that matter).

Start the Developer Mode version of the game, and after starting/loading a game, hit F11 to bring up the cheat window (you can then increase your level, stats, skills, gold, give yourself equipment, etc).

Hi and be welcome Princess Madz smile ,

level 7 is low for going to that tower of Lovis. You don't have to do what the voice in your head is pushing you all the time ! :hihi:

Have you talked to every NPC in Broken Valley Village and solve as much quests for them as you can?

After the meeting up with Talana (then that voice in your head is also starting to push you in some direction = the Main Quest!) you better stay left of the tower and first kill some Goblins. wink
further on you'll find the Teleporter "Tribale Scrine", clic on all Teleporters to "activate" them, can come in handy later on.

For crafting: later on you can find an Enchanter, but now your level is to low to reach that place. But if you wish: you always can try to sneak past enemies and search yourself a way further to undiscovered areas! The skill "Hide in Shadows"(it's always a good thing to have at least 1 point in this skill OR use an Equipment item that boost this skill!) can help you to run unseen past a group of enemies.
The Enchanter can enchant or disenchant gear you've with you. All that you disenchant that Enchantment you learn automatically . Enchanting cost you some Gems & Ores you can find or buy.
You always can back disenchant or enchant, while Charms putting on an empty Charmslot are permanent!
O and you also can find/buy "Enchantment Formulas", that same as for "Potion Formulas" (alchemy)
Crafting with potions? Any questions about this? Feel free to ask smile !

I wish you the best !

Hello Rze, Joram... smile thank you for replying... as I said... I'm not a gamergirl... I prefer movies and TV lol the only games I have ever played are Red Dead Redemption on the xbox... and transformers war for cybertron on the PC ... Sacred 2 Fallen Angel (I loved that game!) oh... and runescape ...

I find this game really difficult for a gaming newbie... 99% of the time I don't know where I'm going... is there some kind of map indicator that I'm not able to work out? I think my main reason for wanting to progress very fast is... all the monsters are terribly boring so far... skeletons and Goblins, there are so many of them fighting them is difficult and all their skills are not so much fun.

I also find my character feels like she is just moving far to slow!! I'm sure that speeds up when you become a dragon?

I am level 9 right now and still in starter gear but I made it up the tower of Lovis and now apparently I am going to.. some maxos temple or something? smile I don't know where that is. At level 10 I have an armour piece to put on.

I was doing some quests for the broken valley, but I doubt I did them all. Again, it would help like in Red Dead Redemption if they told you where they were on the minimap.

Thanks for telling me I need to wait to craft... the armour is so expensive though!! GAH!!

And thank you so much for replying, going to try find this manual... I'm not the most technically skilleed girl on earth LOL

Some of the main plot quests are shown on the map, but otherwise there is not a lot of hand holding. You may want to just explore and clear certain areas first, rather than focus on completing specific quests. It takes a little bit of wandering around, but you should start to become familiar with the layout of Broken Valley.

The actual running speed doesn't change after becoming a dragon, but that does let you get around faster (though you will still need to explore some areas on foot).

You should finish off most of Broken Valley before heading to Maxos Temple. The opponent at the end is level 15 (so uses level 15 skills), so it would be best if you were at least level 14 before entering (there is also a fight to get in that would be tough at lower levels).

In another level or two you should be able to complete the quest for the necromancer, and get the help of a creature. You'll need to find a certain cave for that; the necromancer mentions his experiments all ran off to the west...
The mine entrance is at the back of a camp to the far west of Lovis' tower and a little south.

There are guides you can check if you really want skip exploring to complete a specific quest that doesn't have a map marker.

D2:ED walkthrough or Gamepressure guide (with screenshots)
Note: these mostly apply to D2:DC, as well, but there were a few changes made between the original release and DKS/D2:DC (most anti-dragon shields removed, the D2:ED set pieces were moved and additional sets and unique equipment added, quest rewards were changed, particularly near the start of the game, some skills and enchantments changed, etc).

Any rope will do. There is some in the bandit camp, if you know where that is.

The Black Boar inn is in the village, off to the left as you enter (the first time you entered you may have dealt with some drunk soldiers in the tavern). If you already looted the rope there, check with the merchant Lamotte (between the church and the mill).

If you find the Goblins & Skeletons boring to kill them ... I assure you it's way more fun to make yourself a Priest build with Summon Ghost (who use fireballs AND can Heal you!), Summon Undead (use fireballs and do melee damage), Charm (very useful!), Blind, Hide in Shadows (later on at L15 you can invest also in the "Healing" skill and while you're invisible via the Hide in Shadows skill you can use this Healing skill without becoming visible! - drinking a potions or start fighting make you visible again!) ...

But it is important to always upgrade the Ghost if you can : 1/5 at L1, 2/5 at L 4, 3/5 at L9, 4/5 at L11, 5/5 at L14 - later on you can upgrade the skills you like to a higher rate by your Trainer, that's at the time when you can explore areas in dragon form).

With the help of the Ghost and Charm (1/5 at L6, 2/5 at L12, ...) most battles are fast over and even on hard difficultly an easy job (I do them on nightmare).

Imo a Priest build is very powerful! Because at the start you can't choose a Priest build (with a Priest starting skill) I mostly go for a Mage build with Fireball, but do not invest points in Fireball! But the warrior starting skill Wirlwind can also come in handy.

I've already started many many times a New Game in Divnity 2, tried all kind of builds and the Priest buld is my ALL Favorite one !! biggrin
With this build I can focus on doing quests, talking, exploring, crafting, shopping, alchemy, ... and in between "some" battles that are mostly very fast over ... faster than I can spell
"D-i-v-i-n-i-t-y II- T-h-e D-r-a-g-o-n K-n-i-g-h-t S-a-g-a" :hihi:

Personally I love RPG's that do NOT hold my hand ! In fact DKS do hold my hand too much because of the "?"- marks or "!"- marks above NPC's heads ... but that's my opinion !

And for I forget to say: if you want more money you can always go for the extra Gold if you solve a Quest ! I mostly do that and starting now at the point I can fly as a dragon (my female hero Primellina is now level 18) she have more than 50 000 gold coins ! But to be honest: didn't buy any weapons or armor, only a few yewellery items with a skill boost I like to use frequently. Locke in the Black Boar Inn has the most cheap items IF you mindread him + do a little favour for him wink !
I even selled all the starting gear in Farglow lol ...

Good luck Princess Madz wink

smile Thanks about the rope!!!

So far I am playing with a ranger... I am having fun shooting things... when I don't die. I just bought all the health potions from that man in the inn when I was there so hopefully that will help! I'm level 12 now.

Also I only just discovered I could open chests and boxs hehe. Suddenly I am finding gold and bits and pieces smile

I think Joram that I would agree with you about that hand holding thing... if I was a gamer smile but as someone not familiar to ANY of the systems and is just trying to work it out as they go... its really hard!!

Thanks for telling me where the manual was!!! I enjoyed reading through that! It did help smile

And of course thank you for all the help and advice smile without it I would have given up on playing!

That would be very sad because the DKS is a really Beatifull Gem, I mean ... a Great Game ! smile

Btw, talking about buying potions: have you discovered in Broken Valley Village a way to make your own potions with the herbs you can find or buy ?

It's always nice to help other people out here and I'm glad you didn't give up but ask for help on this forum smile

So, to be short: Never give up wink !

Have you found any alchemy formula? How about the alchemist in the village?

The alchemist will require a little searching to find; formula can be bought or found (though will just help fill up your inventory until you can talk to an alchemist).

The alchemist is
inside [spoiler]in the cellar of the miller's house. You can find the key for the locked hatch [spoiler]upstairs in the kitchen [spoiler]in a cooking pot, covered with lettuce.

Just recently installed the original Divine Divinity and DD2: ED and am enjoying the games on my relatively modern i5 quad core pc running win7 (home) 64bit os. It seemed to take over 2 hours to install DX9c from the DD2 dvd but everything works ok. Must say I prefer the original DD Diablo style top down view. I don't have Diablo 3 for the simple reason my internet is by satellite and crap for online games. I do have Torchlight 2 and enjoy it, the game actually has an easy difficulty that isnt absurdly hard like the Divinity games. Anyway now I played most of the way thru original DivineDivinity and had several days of fun and am starting DD2. Despite being outdated, both games still look pretty good in 1024x768 display. I can't complain too much and if nothing else with dx9 installed now I can play Morrowind using the mge shader mod. For DD2, I'm not too thrilled with the whole change into dragon thing, would've preferred a simple levitate spell like Morrowind so I could still use my human skills.

Early on the main quest you're told by Rhode to stay in town but if you don't hunt down all the nearby goblins and skeletons outside town you will be only level 2 or 3 and die in a single hit from the ghost in town under the chapel you're supposed to kill. At lv6 with a 2hand sword I did the ghost in a few hits. Now I am headed toward the tower but get mobbed by the ranger and mage skeletons guarding the bridge. Guess I'll go back and kill a few more goblins first. I'm lv6 almost lv7, the monsters are lv8.

For the DirectX9 install, did you have a real-time anti-virus program running? That can cause very slow installs.

For Divinity 2 in general it is better to put off doing the main plot quests until you have explored the area and done some or all of the side quests. Once you get access to the full Broken Valley, if you have explored everywhere in the starting section, then from the spot where you met Talana, there are goblins to the east along the mountain, and to the west and then up the mountain path, which would be easier than the level 8 and 9 opponents around the tower. Both goblin areas contain a hatch to the Derelict Tunnels, where you can get more experience and loot (there is a third entrance closer to the tower, in an area occupied by skeletons).
