I'm feeling a little daft - I *know* I saw at one point in my game, that I could put markers/flags on the automap, and write notes on them, but I can't see them any more.

Can anyone tell me if there's a key I may have pressed that made them go away? Maybe if I press it again they will come back?

I feel like it's going to be something really simple I have overlooked, but can't think of anything at the moment! Is driving me mad! =P

Thanks in advance if you can help! =)

So you don't see the custom map markers at all, or just not the text (when you mouse over the flag)?

There is no way to hide and unhide map markers, that I know of. Did you try adding/removing new map markers (using the two buttons with the flag icons near the bottom right of the main map)?

I don't see anything except the map itself - trying to add an image to post to see if that helps =)

Thanks for the welcome BTW - have had Divine Divinity sitting here for a few years, never really got into it for some reason the first time I tried, then been following the Original Sin facebook page for a while, then did kickstarter too, very excited for that one, so thought I would give this one a go again =) This time am thoroughly enjoying it so far! =D

*edits* It just occurred to me - would having changed the resolution of the game made some of the controls disappear? I've changed it to 1152 x 86-something I think

*edits again* Yup! Seems it was changing the resolution broke it!

What version of the game do you have, disk or download?

Manually setting the disk version of the game to an unsupported resolution can get rid of the menu bar on the map, but it shouldn't affect the existing map markers. I played the disk version for awhile at 1152x864, but that would cause a rare crash opening the map, so I dropped back down to 1024x768.

I have the disc version - 1.34 (I think there's a heap of 0's in there also)

Was going to buy the download version, for supported higher resolution, but it's a big download and we have a cap on downloads per month =)

Thanks a heap for your help!

Just wondering, is there actually any major difference in the disc versions actual game files compared to GoG/Steam? If I bought it from them, and moved my disc files to the appropriate place, would they then download a smaller amount of files? Or would they not recognise the disc versions? (hope that makes sense - it's 6:30am and I haven't had coffee yet =P)

If you bought the game on Steam, started the download and then paused it, copied the disk install folder contents to the Steam install folder (the download version got rid of the 'run' folder and moved all the subfolders up one level) and then verified local files for the game, I think that would limit the download size.

The GOG download is a single 1.83GB file, though using the GOG downloader you can probably pause the download and resume it later (not sure how it would handle waiting a month to finish). You might be able to download it onto a flash drive from work or a friend's house.

Some people have reported compatibility issues with disk version saves in the download version of the game (either crash on load, or the saves would load but saving would be disabled after that).

When Larian went to update the game for the anthology there was a problem with the backups, so they ended up loosing some of the bug fixes and changes that were in the disk patches (blog post Hatching the Anthology). These are mostly minor issues (for example, you can not return Finnigan's lockpicks to complete a quest and then buy them back like you can in a game started in the latest disk version, and the lockpicks will disappear if dropped on the ground) or infrequent bugs anyway, or ones with other workarounds or fixes.

List of known bug(s) in the Steam Version - the music bug in the download version was fixed, some of the reported issues in the topic are also applicable to the disk version or are rare, system dependent or not actually bugs.

Thanks Raze =) In the end I decided "bugger it" - 3 days 'til the end of the month and we had a few gig spare, I just downloaded it on steam (other games I was going to download this month can wait 'til next =))

I did try and put the install files in steam directories, but it didn't seem to want to recognise them at all, so I had to download the whole nearly 2 gig - was worth a try though!

Thanks again for all your help! =)
