...Will we win t-shirts? smile I'm voting regardless though just to keep some sort of discussion going. I'm assuming it will probably released a week thereafter.

Because less bugs and failures are found before release (at least the chance is lower to find them) ? wink

That's a valid argument, but I think the time when the feedback from an open beta could be more helpful than the cost of managing it has passed. How much time is there to fix new problems before release, on top of everything else?

I suppose a closed beta would suffice. It is not that Larian has rushed this game the way some gamedevs need to do (for their publishers).

Fine tuning jetpacks takes time so we've moved the release of Divnity: Dragon Commander to August 6th 2013 - http://www.divinitydragoncommander.com

I have to say I'm not unhappy with the postponement of DC. That way Larian has time to balance the game better and the release days is perfectly fitted between CoH 2 and Rome 2 Total War....

Now the whole summer I will be occupied with strategy gameplay.... :P

So any chance on the closed beta soon @Larian???

I got an answer from Larian on Twitter! Seems like we can expect news on DC after E3! smile

@larianstudios Ah, I knews it... :P At least we heard anything from Dragon Commander. It was much too quiet in the past days and weeks...

Larian Studios @larianstudios
@CrashMjF We're doing it on purpose - there's so much E3 noise that we're waiting for that to blow over.

Well, this year's E3 has the specacle of Microsoft proudly using their new next-generation cutting edge platform to blow their own foot off. Look at the detail in that mangled extremity! You can see every bone fragment! And look at the blood physics from their gushing wound!

But yes, I am glad that they're postponing the release of Dragon Commander. A couple of the items on the task list seemed a bit big for a July 2 release (making and polishing new single-player maps, adding different styles of strategy map AI). Yes, now there seems like there may be some time for that open beta.

Yeah, game-wise this E3 is by far the best in ages. Plus, M$ failing hard with their DRMbox warms the cockles of my heart. smile

Good to know that they moved the release date so they could polish the game. I could also have ample time to study for my exams!

The immediate effect of the move will be a lot of disappointments, but, in the long run, a polished game will reflect the company's vision/mission on its products. That is, creating an enjoyable game. Trivial bugs and game issues!

In some of the live videos we've seen from Larian, a steam notice popped up from time to time that someone started up DC.

There IS a closed beta of DC running for a few people (I don't know who) atm.

Question is if there will another, bigger beta for the D:OS backers or even an open beta. wink

There is suppose to be an open beta, which took a little longer than expected to get set up...

So no actual ETA on that beta, really. Well, knowing that it's coming down the line is still good.

Unless otherwise specified, just an opinion or simple curiosity.
