Dexyd No free space left on C:\ and/or on the disk where %TEMP% located? Or may be the folder where DC put and compress files has specific permission rights thus admin privs required.

Dexyd I have the exact same problem! I checked the file it's looking for, the file doesn't exist!

Hello, is there anything to keep in mind when starting DC-Beta after installing for the first time? After double clicking the start icon or starting the game from inside Steam, it does not start. The minimized window (called Dragon Commander BETA) just stays in the task bar and seems to be idle.
I've also tried to start the DCApp.exe as Admin wich did not produce any visible effects.
Do I need to restart my System maybe? I'll try that later.
I guess some system specs would help.

So, I just played a game with the AI and I must say... It's unplayable for me! The whole game stutters and lags like hell. I even tried to go from the High setting to the Very Low setting to see if it would make any difference, but it was still the same. I can play all recent games on at least High, so I wasn't expecting this. I'm not sure what the problem is . Any ideas from you guys? Maybe you have encountered something similar? I have already sent something via the feedback thingy. Kind regards, WarrantOfficer

@K-Money, after i installed WinRAR, everything seems to work. Normally I only have 7-zip installed.

You now have access to the beta group.
Elfwyn;
If you Alt-Tab, can you switch to the game, or does that reveal any anti-virus or firewall messages, etc, that you may not have noticed before?
I'd try rebooting before you do too much other troubleshooting.
Have you tried right clicking on the executable, selecting Properties, switching to the Compatibility tab and (for Windows 7) disabling desktop composition, etc?
Are you shutting down all non-essential programs before starting the game?
Do you have this problem with any other games?
WarrantOfficer;
Did you try lowering the game resolution?
What are you system specs, compared to the minimum / recommended?

Jep, using the "Fake Fullscreen," aka borderless, did the trick. I knew it was my resolution... Pretty much all games don't support 1440x900 so well. Well, thanks a lot!

I managed to play a couple of hours of the skirmish yesterday thought I'd throw in my two penneth.
Once I got used to it (with no form of tutorial included yet the NO AI option was invaluable) it was an interesting twist on a strategy game. Even with fog of war disabled I couldn't really see what my opponent was doing, the units were too small to identify to the extent that I didn't even know if I needed anti-air or not. Just flooding the map with random troops was effective enough on easy and being able to make feints and direct the flow of the battle was strategically satisfying but I found the tactical layer a nuisance. The factors I felt able to control were speed, effectiveness and ability to traverse land, sea and obstacles. Instead I had to manage a paper-scissors-stone setup that I was unable to see. The idea of zooming down to one of the pinheads on the map to activate a specialised ability seemed bizarre and thus the entire upgrade system was a bit pointless.
The Dragon ended up being a major let down, it had a bunch of abilities on long cooldowns but it was extremely vulnerable and the basic attack was underwhelming. As it stands I don't see any tactical reason why anyone would stay in Dragon form for more than a second. It's a nice little tweak but hardly worthy of being an eponymous feature.
All told though I had fun, I'm somewhere between desperately hoping for mod tools to tweak it towards my preferences and wanting to play more as it stands.

Only pirates I could find were bogus anyway. 3DM did a proper release.

Game contains 23 full tracks (dunno if that's all of them or just part). Old tools are compatible. In case thing change in future - there is a 2nd way to extract them.
Some of the tracks puzzle me. Compare to DD/BD/D2 - these compositions are quite, quite "busy". I'm not sure what lead to such decision, but some of them even "hard" to listen to.

You're comparing RPG games to a strategy/RTS game. The pacing is quite different, the scale as well. The music reflects that.
Unless otherwise specified, just an opinion or simple curiosity.

No, not really. I was talking of Kirill's work in general.
