I pulled the sword from the stone after first entering the forest. When I got to the elf encampment they are all dead. Does this mean I messed up the council quest as it shows Bronthian is within this encampment? Thanks for the help

No, Bronthion is supposed to stay alive.

That's good to know but any idea where to find him now? I been running all over and havent come across him yet.

He's supposed to stand west of the well, a bit north of the archer stand in the Elven village. But I recall a post where Dragon said: Go to the archer guild/Rivertown and ask the guild master about Bronthion - then B. should appear at the point I related.
Another thing: What does the scrying statue say about B.?

Scrying statue showed him. I remembered him from Stormfist castle. I will go check with the archer guild now and see how that works out. Thanks for helping.
