Don't worry, there will be a lot of Diplomacy and out-off-battle decision making in the single-player campaign.
The beta is only the multiplayer part, which consists largely of combat.
I'm talking about multiplayer too. Since i haven't played the single player, i cannot make any suggestions regarding that.
