Still having some NAT punch-through fails. Anyone have any suggestion how to work around this? Currently I can't even take part in the competition even though I really want to.

Depends on which side's NAT protocol is the issue. What you say suggests that your NAT is where the connections fail.

Don't quote me on this, but I think a single IP behind a router shouldn't cause NAT issues.

The only proven alternative that I know of is port forwarding from the router's settings, which requires you to know which ports the game uses for connections that are failing.

Unless otherwise specified, just an opinion or simple curiosity.

Does it matter if you are trying to connect to another lobby or someone is trying to connect to yours?

Have you tried connecting via IP address? Unfortunately, even if that works better it wouldn't help for the ladder skirmish.

I am having issues connecting as well, I am even using a direct connection to my modem and I am not getting any better results. there is only ONE person I can connect to that I know of and that is Razzmann for some reason. everyone else gives me "NAT punch through failed."

Actually I am starting to connect to other players better but I am still getting alot of "NAT punc through failed messages, even if I am directly connected to the modem.

Ok I just fired up this thing after 2 week or so break and I can't play for this very reason. Note that I do not have any sort of explicit firewall and this was not an issue before I had to stop playing.
-
My connection (usa) is pc -> router -> internet
-
What is annoying is that there is no pretty display of how we can resolve this issue (what ports it it is using or why NAt failed). If this was a linux game I would watch the socket activity (/proc/.../fd and netstat) but this being a windows game I'm clueless (I know zilch about microsoft system level stuff)
-
I do have ?upnp? disabled on my router for security reasons as 99% of the routers have an exploit that allows a person external to your network to open the network up.
-
normally I would just unplug the router and plug the internet connection directly into the computer but my provider (a well known usa cable provider) does crappy stuff with the mac address and it would require two service calls to change the mac address to/from the router.
-
In case I did not say this above - I had absolutely no issues prior to this attempt to run the game (though it has been a while) so I believe something has changed in the game; the error message is ueseless for determing the network issue the game is having (or how to bypass the issue) and my home network has not changed in over a year.
-
I was able to create a lobby and people were able to join...

I just can't join other people game
--
Ok now I can join other people games; maybe it was just an issue with the games I tried to join earlier ?

For me it doesn't matter if I'm the host or trying to connect to a lobby. I haven't tried connecting directly via IP address.

Update:

Tried port forwarding and that failed to resolve issues.
Tried using an ethernet cable to rule out wireless being the problem and that also failed after having one single success.
