how long can you stay in chapter 1
can i just sit there with all but the capital taken and amass gold /research points

I think all your gold and research points are gone after the first chapter - I am not completely sure but I vaguely remember that it was said somewhere...

I'm going to try maximizing my relationship with the elf by doing everything in their favor and helping the elf princess, next is dwarves, then lizards, then skells. Imps last because they don't have princesses.

EDIT: then whatever politics I'm in favor last.

I married Aida. She's fantastic and charming.

I havent' played yet - i'm at work for another 7 hours I think I'll married based on what happens up to the time I have to marry

Hum. How quickly do I have to decide to marry? Will I have time before I go out of town for another week ?

I married the Elf Queen, going for Elf + Human dominance for my first play through. Though Scarlet is who I'd prefer to marry, she has an awesome personality, though she might be gay? I don't know yet, though I wouldn't mind if she were.

You can sit in chapter 1 and complete all your dragon and unit research and they will all carry over. (So i kinda just camped the enemy capital border for 7+ turns lol) Not sure about amassing gold or research points ahead of time, though I think thieves will actually steal gold/research from you in chapter 1 if you have over a certain amount) So you can start chapter 2 with all level 1 and 2 unit research finished and all the level 1 dragon research finished.

You also get to keep your cards from chapter 1, keep that in mind as well.
