Same here. Got it from the Larian Vault.Gets through all the .bnk files ok then this .bik locks it up. Tried downloading again and other folders and removed beta version and shut down everything non-essential in my system tray. Even disabled anti-virus for 10 minutes.
Windows 7 PC with 4GB RAM and an Intel Q6600 2.4GHz quad-core.

What do you think? A general Problems or is the gamersgame DL-File broken? Oh and only cause i read that... in cant find any Gameserial for Steam. Is that normal with the gamersgate Version?

We are working on the issue. People who have access to a steam key on top of larianvault can download it via steam (it's drm-free once downloaded there as well)

the vault & gamersgate installers will be updated shortly

It's annoying to say the least. At first it's two hours late and then it doesn't even work.

Had to go for a swim in the meantime to mellow my mood. ... And it still isn't fixed.

Really wish by now that I'd bit the bullet and preloaded it (or at least started the Steam d/l before hitting the water).

We've updated the installers twice already but there seems to be a problem with the content delivery network that we are using resulting in the files being corrupted and causing the installers to freeze. There's unfortunately little we can do ourselves about it right now but we'll keep on pushing so that the files are spread correctly asap.

Having the same problem and will try a bit later to see if it's been resolved yet. Usually a CDN takes a few hours to seed fully if it's not done manually, patience! wink

It is possible to extract a working game from the files, there is probably an easier way than I did it. If you use http://sourceforge.net/projects/innounp/ you can extract the files the ones that are broken in my set are these avoid them and your good.
45945088 2013.07.05 15:10 {app}\Data\Localization\English\Video\CombatMoveAround.bik
76260024 2013.07.05 15:10 {app}\Data\Localization\English\Video\CombatOnBuildingSelected.bik
26836276 2013.07.05 15:10 {app}\Data\Localization\English\Video\CombatOnCloseToCapturePoint.bik
73546868 2013.07.05 15:11 {app}\Data\Localization\English\Video\CombatOnMoneyForDragon.bik

The one that freezes unpacking is CombatMoveAround the others produce errors. Unfortunatly I'm either too stupid to figure out how or the program doesn't allow simple ignore file so I had to unpack using wildcards which was a bit of a pain. There are guis that use it so I imagine they are the way to go if you wanna give it a shot. (edited to correct files affected and behaviour description)

Are you trying to tell us that we have to download the entire game again?

Also the bolded part seems to say: "DO NOT EVER BUY GAMES ON LARIAN VAULT. Because shit can happen and WE have no way of fixing it ourselves."

Yeah I am feeling kind of upset about this whole thing too. I selected the Vault version so Larian wouldn't have to pay a cut to Steam or GOG. Being told that I'm SOL and just won't be able to play the game anytime soon is not helping things right now.

I'm one of those who bought the game over Gamersgate i cant play the game, too!
It seems to that Larian Studios cant do anything that the installer is running, right?
So what's about giving Steam Keys to those who can't install the game?!?

I refuse to use STEAM.

Thanks Cusith!

So summarize, the DIY approach is:
Download innounp.exe from http://sourceforge.net/projects/innounp/?source=dlp and put it into the same directory as the uninstalled game from the Larian Vault is.
Open "cmd" and change to that directory.
Type: innounp -v DragonCommander.exe > a.txt
Get http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.4.3.html , open a.txt with it. Now you have to remove a fixed portion of text left of each filename (typically beginning with {app}).
To do this, use "block select" (hold SHIFT+ALT and move around cursor or push PAGE-DOWN) and finally push DEL to remove that whole block of text.
Also, the first and last few lines should be removed. Our target is that this is a file containing only filenames.
When finished, the file starts with the line
{app}\Shipping\FxStudioRT.dll
and ends with the line
install_script.iss
Additionally, you must remove these 3 lines from the middle:
{app}\Data\Localization\English\Video\CombatMoveAround.bik
{app}\Data\Localization\English\Video\CombatOnBuildingSelected.bik
{app}\Data\Localization\English\Video\CombatOnCloseToCapturePoint.bik
Type: innounp -x -dUnpacked DragonCommander.exe @a.txt
The extracted game is now in the subdirectory Unpacked\{app}
Just execute {app}\Shipping\DCApp.exe

I've read something about surprise for pirates.. I bet we Larian Vault users who do the above will run full throttle into that hehe
For the record, I too selected "Larian Vault" because I want to save Larian Studios the cut from GOG.
BTW, anyone upload the 3 files to rapidshare? LOL.

If you're using larianvault:

1. go to the location on your hard drive where you saved the downloaded files
2. remove file called DragonCommander-2.bin
3. log in to the Larianvault and download the new Dragon Commander downloader
4. run the downloader and make sure let it download to the same location where your old files are
5. the downloader should only download DragonCommander-2.bin and see that the other files are there

Gamersgate got an update today on the corrupt file and they should have fixed it by now as well.

Maybe the updated file had not propagated to the server nearest you yet, or your ISP cached the corrupt file?

I used the freeware program Hash to create checksum values for the Vault install files, which can be used to verify the integrity.

If the file is corrupt and re-re-downloading it doesn't help, it would be possible to repair the file using QuickPar or ICE ECC, if I create appropriate recovery files.

Can you check your install files against the checksum values I posted, to confirm there is a problem with the download, and identify the corrupt file(s)? The DragonCommander-2.bin was corrupted the first time it was uploaded, but there could also have been a problem while downloading the files.

An easy way to do so would be to use the freeware (no install required) program DVDsig, which I've included along with the checksum file for my download folder: DVDSig-DivDragonComm.zip (9KB). Extract the zip file into your download folder, run the DVDSig program and click on Verify.

It is possible the updated file just didn't get to the server you re-downloaded from, so waiting and trying again may work.

Did you try the DVDSig program to check your downloaded files? As I said above, if a file is corrupt and re-downloading it doesn't help, it would be possible to repair using QuickPar or ICE ECC, if I create appropriate recovery files. Depending on the severity of the corruption, the size of the recovery data required may be an issue, though.

Unless you have a preference for QuickPar, I'll use ICE ECC to create a small recovery file, which can be used to either fix a minor corruption, or determine what amount of recovery files would be needed to more extensive problems.

Down load the recovery file (817KB), as well as ICE ECC (702KB install or 629KB zipped).

Extract the zip file to a folder on your hard drive (such as c:\temp).

After installing the ICE ECC program (or extracting the zip file to an appropriate folder), start it. Under the toolbar, the top pane will list all available drives. Browse to where you extracted the ecc file (ie double click on the local disk 'c:' then the folder 'temp') and double click the ecc file (or select it and click on the 'Verify' toolbar button).

In the window that pops up, browse to the folder containing the DC install files and click 'OK'.

Right after you click OK, the window will be refreshed and the title bar changed, this time asking for a folder to place the recovered file. Select a different folder in the left pane and click OK.

The program will then read the DragonCommander-2.bin file, listing blocks (sections of the file) that are different than expected. If the damage is limited to a relatively small section, the program can repair the file right away.
If there is additional damage, the program will list the error 'Not Enough Recovery Blocks' (with a yellow background colour) in the bottom message pane, followed by the fraction of the available recovery blocks to the total number required. Depending on the number of blocks needed I can upload more files. If most of the file is read as corrupt, then it would be easier to re-download it.

About another 3 hours and Belgium will be at the start of the work day, so Larian can also double check that the updated file was properly propagated. My upload speed isn't great, so if I had to upload the whole thing it would probably be just as fast to wait for Larian to check before re-downloading it from the server.

If you tried the ICE ECC recovery program, how many blocks did it say were required?

Did you re-download the file recently? I would have thought even if there was delay propagating the updated file it should be ok by now. I downloaded Dragon Commander 72 hours ago, and didn't have a problem with the install.
I did once have an issue with a delayed update for Divine Divinity, where a couple hours after an update the copy on the server closest to me hadn't been changed, but it was when I tried again the next morning.

I've downloaded everything again this morning, after deleting everything first. The file "DragonCommander-2.bin" is still corrupt.
When I use the program ICE ECC I get 333 bad blocks, so recover is not possible.
Now what????

Open the Steam client (you'll need to install it and create an account, if you don't have one yet), and in the Games menu click on Activate a Product on Steam.

Here is a download link for a larger ICE ECC recovery file (116MB, 340 blocks), for the DragonCommander-2.bin file from the English version of the game (don't know if that file contains any data that depends on the localization).
