Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity - Original Sin - General Apha / Beta - Buy In?

I was just wondering if Larian had any plans for a buy in for the alpha/beta after Backers get in. I ask this cause sadly when the KS went live i wan'ts around for the party (RL stuff you know how it gose) and missed it, but, i am to say the least, Very interested in the game and would like to be a part of the beta and help like other did so for Dragon Commander.

Maybe Steam early access but this would cause the same misunderstanding as for Planetary Annihilation. Some people - even or especially the press - would probably again too dumb to understand the price tag of the early access build....

Yeah, i never got that whole "PA SUCKS! IT COSTS TO MUCH!" deal. they did it as to not undermine the donations of the backers, whom paid that price on kick starter. They also specifically released the information saying why it costs so much, and as they progress closer to release date and transition from alpha to early beta, and early beta to late beta, the price will drop.

It seems they where blinded by the price tag and didn't realise that they arn't paying X for a game, they are paying X for alpha/beta of a game + the game on release as well as the potential via feed back to directly influence the development of the game.

I feel like a good solution would be to only sell beta access on the larian website, not steam.

I agree it should probably only be available one place, if only to avoid confusion. Though being on Steam may get it some more attention.

I'd prefer less attention than PA attention

the worst part about the PA attention is despite the justified reasoning, as well well as the information given on why they priced as they did on steam, is various game media websites saw it as a chance to make make some easy site hits, so they blew it outta proportion making it look like they are immoral money hungry child beating scumbags who are making the game...

anyways, reason i why ask if they are doing it is cause i think it would suck if you missed the the chance at beta cause you didn't have the cash to get to beta tier or as is my case, simply missed the kick starter all together for what ever reason.
