I have been contemplating purchasing Dragon Commander Imperial Edition for weeks now, the only thing that has been stopping me from getting this edition over the standard edition is unknowing what the Dragons on Earth Campaign Map actually is? Is it like an additional story dlc that involves this new map? Does it offer a certain amount of hours of additional content? Can some please explain to me what this extra feature includes exactly? :P

This is just pure speculation but I think only the campaign map is going to represent earth and it ends there. The battle maps will still be the same. No additional story, and specially, no DLC as the developers are quite against about it.

If there are additional stories/modes, Larian would know it more themselves.

If you pre-order the game you get the imperial edition for free.

As far as I know the Dragons on Earth map is just an extra campaign map based on Earth (practically I don't know if the smallest countries could be individually represented, since there needs to be enough room on the map to show units and buildings, as well as gold/research/population).

The custom campaign in single player allows you to play on a world map of your choice, as does a multi-player campaign. If the Dragons on Earth map is anything more than an additional (presumably large) map not set in Rivellon, there has not been anything official to indicate that. It is probably safe to assume there is no additional story content, etc.

I assume it'll look something like a modern version of the "Risk" board game, with smaller countries amalgamated into regions and geographically large countries split up into multiple sections.

What if I were to get the game from here? http://www.ozgameshop.com/pc-games/divinity-dragon-commander-code-by-email-game-pc

Do you know if that will include the imperial edition? Or is it just the places that say they include the imperial edition (steam, gog, etc)?

Thanks.

They are selling a Steam code... I don't know if that would automatically register as a pre-order, though.

There's something like 118 countries on this map. It's got to be the biggest one in the lot. The countries don't follow earth borders, nor do they have earth names.

Could someone please upload a video of the dragons on earth campaign map? Would love to see what it actually looks like, I am surprised there is no video of it yet XD. Thanks! =)

Oh, interesting. Thanks for that. =)

So is it actually larger than the normal campaign maps and offer a longer game experience?

I think the 4 player campaign maps are between about 40-100 countries, and the earth map is about 115.

I see, so the map is a multiplayer only map. Thanks for the info! =)

No, you can also play it as a Custom Campaign in single-player.

It's significant I'd say, Custom Campaign is what I'd consider the meat of the single player game, don't think of it like the skirmish modes in other RTS.

I have a video of me trying the Dragons on Earth campaign map here.

After talking to all the folks on my ship, I finally get to the campaign map by the 23:00 mark.

I actually wanted to play a campaign on this map more than the actual story campaign. The location of the different races on the map gives you a clue to what Larian thinks about certain regions of the world.

Well there doesn't need to be a heated discussion about it, but it is amusing. Considering the game makes you confront issues that are in fact still up for discussion today, the choice of the factions locations doesn't seem to be too random.

I have this earth map too and when i tried my first battle on it, it crashed to desktop. So i have to wait until somebody tells me, where to get the actual patch from, if you bought your game from Gamersgate.

I think, over all, the publishing of this game is still in beta, never before in about of 33 years of computer-gaming i had a problem to get the actual patch for my game.
