So far, this game is a fantastic, well done, and is really impressive. but it has a few things I think could use some fixing, let me know what you think. (may add, change, or update over time.)
Bugs:
I select a unit and give it an order, often, I hear "thats impossible commander" about 10 times when the action WAS successful and was only ordered once.
The card that makes a territory immune to invasions does not work. Me and a friend played it and the next turn it was invaded while still active. Unless "invasion" has a different in-game definition then what I am thinking.
Gold Dragon skin shows up for just the first battle of the campaign mode and in skirmish, after the first battle in campaign it disappears. (it seems you all are aware of this but as a thought, the ability to turn it on and off in the options menu MAY help. I am not a coder or anything like that but perhaps adding this condition to the code can make it more stable and help either keep it on or keep it off.
Mistakes:
When Lohanna is talking about how Della Gecko would be disappointed that she would not have a statue built of her she does not move her lips but a minor twitch but no other indication that she is talking.
Edmund: upon completion of the campaign his lip movement seems completely off for some reason when you talk to him before officially ending the campaign. (I may need to look at this one again to be sure, but it seemed that way to me at the moment.)
When discussing health care everyone but the dwarves and undead agree to pass it right? The imp says "Most of our best engineers are more machine then flesh, and its only fair the government pitches in when they can." I select to agree to pass government funded health care. Elves and lizards rejoice. Government is paying for recovery and injuries to its people. but the imps say "So all our scientists have to pay for each and every scratch or limb? but that means they will have to be. . . careful! the thought is lethal!" and I loose some favor with the imps. Sounded to me like they were supposed to be SUPPORTING healthcare, so when I pass it they should have increased favor, might have misassigned the responses.
Suggestions:
The Eye of the patriarch in Skirmish is a very powerful weapon and can completely cripple a section of the opponents army, if its all light units, they are all destroyed. The ability being that powerful is not the issue, there needs to be some kind of defense. My thoughts was cloaking, but it turns out if you know where the units are you can still launch it and destroy them. Perhaps make the stealth units completely untargetable for enemy abilities until they are uncloaked.
A small idea: The Raven is AWESOME. The design is cool and it looks like a formidable airship. How about actually putting it into the game as a controllable unit?
My thoughts was make it a unit you can build once (or have just one active at a time) in your capital territory real time battles, but ONLY at your capital. Click on the capital building and the option to build the Raven appears. That could give a decent chance for a player who has been invaded to defend themselves against a sneak attack. Would be useful to have in case your dragon is still preparing for battle and the enemy invaded with a ridiculously huge attack force, maybe even add some tension knowing that you had no choice but to summon your FLAGSHIP to defend your capital. could make for a real "final stand" feel as well.
A couple years ago it was mentioned that you would get some unique reinforcements in the OLD "air only" version of the game. Like your undead wife would give you a card that spawns undead flying creatures to assist in battle. Some unique functions like that for the campaign and custom campaign would be cool to see again, though this is a minor suggestion.
This is just what I can think of this second, may add more as I think of some new things. So far I am thoroughly enjoying this game! A little disappointed that there are not that many people playing online it seems. Between the GOG lan only I have heard about here, and the fact that this game was heavily underadvertised. I hope that Angry Joe's review he said he will release will help bring a lot more people into this game. It deserves a lot more attention and praise. Larian Studios has put a lot of work and heart into this and made a fantastic game. Keep up the great work.
