Just finished an 11 hour run of playing DC, no golden dragon skin around as of yet. And yeah, I got carried away...

yeah I bought the retail version at amazon. But there's nothing written about the imperial edition anywhere. Larian thought Amazon.de would automatically send out the DLC keys for the Imperial Edition, but apparently you need to contact Amazon to ask for one.

Well, no golden dragon skin, but I did finish the game already. Loved the voice acting!

I seem to have the imperial edition now at least, but I'm still having an issue with the dragon skin, at least related to the campaign.. My friend however who did not pre-order or buy the IE says he has a golden dragon skin, but that was some time ago before some of the patches.. I noticed at one point simple skirmish maps I do have the golden skin, every once in a while anyways, but I would like to see the campaign with the golden skin... I'd uninstall and re-install right now to see if that would be a fix, but I'm about to go play it some more at the moment. I've seen the golden dragon skin once in a while in the campaign so I also doubt it somewhat too.... But with new patches, who knows?

So thanks raze I'm curently installing it. I don't know if my other savegames will still work or if the imperial edition works anyway, but I have it in my dlc list now and steam is still updating the game with a 600mb patch that appeared after entering the code.

Most of that download is the FLAC soundtrack, etc. Saved games will not be affected by installing the Imperial Edition (you'll just have an extra campaign map and should get a gold dragon skin).

I think I know whats up with the golden dragon skin now, or at least what I thought was an issue. The single player campaign you use the default skin, while in any other skirmish match, it's golden? I thought there was a bug, but for a few days I haven't been paying much attention to the skirmish maps yet, as I have been to the campaign :P
In my opinion, golden dragon skin if available, should be offered for the campaign too! - It looks much nicer than the regular skin for one thing, why not? Also makes me feel better that I can see the golden dragon fly about regardless of being in multiplayer or whatever. :P

Well, except that one time where I had to start a new campaign to get it to work. Not sure if they fixed it yet, so it might still be random whether or not it will be applied.

Is there a particular install order for game, patches and Imperial Edition? I have the game installed at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Commander
with this as the contents:
ImperialEdition
Main
unins000.dat
unins000.exe
What should I have? Thanks.

It shouldn't matter what order you install the Imperial Edition and patch in.
I haven't installed the Imperial Edition for the Larian Vault release, since it is included in the Steam version. If you are asking because the Imperial Edition folder is empty, check the main folder for the soundtrack, etc. At least in the Steam version the contents of the Imperial Edition folder are up one folder from where they should be.

Thanks for confirming that. I ask because I haven't noticed any of the IE content (particularly the gold dragon skin) and I wonder if I've goofed something up. Do you know where the IE content should be located?

Did you check the Main folder? (I edited my post above)
If you start a custom or multiplayer campaign, is the Planet Earth map shown in the list (at the bottom)? People have had issues getting the golden dragon skin to show up, but the map should be there if you have the Imperial Edition.

I checked and the map is not showing for me, nor do I have the gold skin.

Try reinstalling the Imperial Edition as administrator.

I checked and the map is not showing for me, nor do I have the gold skin. I just downloaded and installed the Imperial Edition for the Larian Vault version of the game, and I have the Planet Earth map listed for both multiplayer and single player custom campaigns, and the gold dragon skill shows up in a skirmish, at least. I didn't have to run it as administrator, though it did default to installing in the Program Files path even though I changed where the game was installed; after I changed the install path to match the game's '..\Dragon Commander' path, it put the concept art, screenshots, docs and soundtrack in the '..\Dragon Commander\ImperialEdition' folder. Try just moving the ImperialEdition folder into the Main folder, rather than Dragon Commander. When I changed the default install location I dropped the 'main' from the install path. The game could just be expecting the relative paths to be set: (default) (my install path)

Try just moving the ImperialEdition folder into the Main folder, rather than Dragon Commander. Will do; I'll give it a try soon and will post back with my results. Thank you for going through all of that trouble, I appreciate it!

No problem; I would have gotten around to updating it eventually, anyway.
