This doesn't seem to be the same problem I've already found noted elsewhere in the thread(s).
Here we go: I'm playing the Developer's Cut version of Divinity 2 from Steam. I am in Developer Mode but I hadn't used it.
When I first got to the first Broken Valley town, Captain Rodney was at a desk in the barracks, but invisible. Just a quest ! with no person. If I tried to activate that, the game would produce a "loading" icon - the spinning disc with the circle around it - in the middle of the upper right quarter of the screen. Sound and visuals would keep updating, but this icon would never stop spinning and I would never be able to move.
OK. I restored a save and said "we won't click on him any more now for a while."
Finished freeing the guy stranded on the watch tower. Went back to confront his friend up on the barracks parapet (Peavey, is it?) Once my choices are finished, spinning disc up in corner forever and me unable to move, same as before. It's trying to find Captain Rodney so he can show up for his scene. No dice. He's not at his desk, even invisible; he is nowhere to be seen.
OK. Maybe I'm trying this too soon, I thought. Maybe the game wants other things to happen first. After all at that point I hadn't turned in the first stage of the story quest or gone to the tomb under the church yet. So I did all that, turned in a couple of other side quests, etc. Confronting Peavey still won't work though, and Rodney is nowhere to be seen. He is not off arresting Carl - I checked - and anyway I haven't completed that quest; I still haven't either confronted Carl or told Rodney yet.
So as we stand:
- Rodney cannot be located
- Peavey's scene can't be finished
- If I want the "tell Rodney" resolution of Carl I can't do that either
I thought about trying to use the developer command to move myself to wherever the game thinks Rodney is, just so I can see, but I've tried several attempts at figuring out his internal name and haven't gotten it yet.
I also tried the "reset scripts" option just to see if that did anything. It didn't. (I did NOT save a game where I'd tried that.)
Any help appreciated!
