Replaying DKS on steam. I've finished all the quests in the Village area. I've got Talana talking to me, but I'm just wandering aimlessly in the outdoor areas, fighting whatever comes along. Is there a particular route I should take to max experience?

Extra blah blah in case anyone cares smile

I typically kill everything outside before taking on many quests. I did enter the bandit camp and did one for a couple there and I'm kinda wandering towards this axe that someone wants me to find. I killed a demon and I'm getting a ton of XP for everything, especially a killer rabbit. He was level 22 but couldn't get to me on a ledge, so was just target practice. I think I've gone from level 7 or 8 to like 11 or 12, just walking around. Should I focus? I remember goblins being in the derelict tunnels and they are going to be a cakewalk compared to these Black Ring mobs. I'm kind heading towards the enchanting dude, though I don't remember exactly where he's at. Am I going to be overleveled to face most enemies? Have jewelry that gives me a level 5 fireball. Found both pieces in loot under a chapel somewhere.

You are starting to get a little over levelled for the the derelict tunnels and goblins outside a couple of the entrances. It isn't really going to make a big difference, though, except for lower level areas being easy when you get back to them. The extra experience you get for higher level opponents now makes up for the less experience you would get for lower level opponents later. I did the start of the fjords early, to get as high a level as possible before heading to Sentinel Island, so I could maximize the experience bonus from the level bonus from the mindread your first encounter there. I got little experience from fights on Sentinel Island, which (at least for the common opponents) were relatively easy, but it all evened out in the end. Even trying to maximize experience (delaying turning quest when possible, etc) I finished the D2:ED section of the game at level 37 (less than a level higher than my first playthrough in D2:ED), while most who completed everything ended up on level 35 or 36 (37 being about the max without spending a lot of time at one of the spots where opponents can respawn; at least one person got to level 40 that way). Just before the end of the game I got to level 47, and again that was not terribly unusual, and at best a level or two higher than most people who complete pretty much everything.

The enchanter is to the far west of Lovis' tower and then north (though that is not the easiest way to get there).

Thanks General Raze. I love this game, except for the dragon parts. I always replay up to dragon time and the game is very entertaining the whole time. I am just playing on normal so wandering around above my level isn't deadly like it is on higher difficulties. I just kinda am wandering in a horseshoe shape, avoiding the Lovis tower, except for the baddies outside. Stopped at the bandit den and am now making my way slowly north. Fun times. Maybe I'll roll back to the autosave at Talana and tackle it in a more straightforward way. We'll see. I don't mind replaying whole sections on a whim smile
