It has been not long that I bought Divinity 2: Developers Cut on Steam. Well the game was running flawless. Was.

All until last week, when I bought the new Humble Bundle, that also included Divinity 2. Suddenly, after activating the bundle-steamkey the game did no longer run.

I have looked through multiple topics, but yet not found a solution. I'm pretty sure I'm not missing any files, because up to the point of failure, the game went flawless.
But now it plays the intro-video and then closes without any error-message.
I've already ran the "verify files"-thing, uninstalled the game, reinstalled it and verified another time... nothing.

It's kind of sad, i bought the game twice but cant play it once anymore...

Any chances someone migth know why the game fucks up?

That is strange. Activating the bundle key shouldn't have done anything to the game.

Try starting the game directly from the Divinity2.exe or Divinity2-debug.exe executable files, in the '..\divinity2_dev_cut\bin' install folder?


Try setting the game to run in a window. Edit the graphicsoptions.xml file in Notepad (or other text editor) and in the term fullscreen="1" change the one to a zero and save.
You can also check the resolution (ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight terms) to make sure they are set properly, and adjust if required.

In XP the graphicsoptions.xml file is in the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\ %username% \Local Settings\Application Data\Divinity 2\Profile

or in Vista / Win 7

C:\Users\ %username% \AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Profile


You may need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders (XP, Vista, Win 7).

Already tried all that stuff, also that things mentioned in the steam thread.. doesnt change anything.

As said, I was really surprised.. from one day to another it just stopped working, no error-messages, nothing. Its just not working...
I mean, the game is starting, but it just instaly closes after the intro vid.

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results... well, seems like i'm insane.

I tried to start the game over and over again, with a glimpse of hope that it magically recovered, and all of sudden it told me it was missing the "cudart32_41_22.dll".

Downloaded that dll and boom: It works. At least to the main menu. Havent tried further.

Edit: Okay, game seems to run like it did before humble bundle. Sorry for bothering you
