I bought the humble bundle and i'm really enjoying divinity II. but there is a problem, i'm playing this game for like a good hour or 2 but then my pc crashes and restarts without any visual clue on how it happens.

I'm running the game on the highest settings (fps cap at 60) without any problems (except the crashing that is).
my system: 16 GB ram
GTX 770
Sabertooth Z87 motherboard
i7-4770K cpu

thanks in advance

edit: I also have 2 screens

So the game just crashes randomly after you've been playing awhile?

Have you had any problems with other DirectX games?
After a restart can you play again for about the same length of time? Is there a difference when you first turn the computer on vs playing when the computer has been on all day?

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs, like anti-virus, before starting the game? Checked for driver updates, etc?

You could try lowering the settings or resolution to see if that makes a difference in the frequency of the crashes. If the problem is resolved you could then start raising or enabling options a few at a time to narrow down which are causing the problem.

It isn't the same problem, but you could try some of the suggestions in the topic below to see if they help.

Game won't start, I need help desperatly

I'm trying to set anisotropic sampling to 8 times instead of 16 and 30fps cap. i'm going to test it and going to report if it does crash again.(so far no crash but haven't played long)

I haven't encountered any problems with DirectX cause my pc is only a couple of weeks old.
there is no difference on the time my computer has been on as far as I can tell.

I was active on my second screen(I think so). and I had a couple of programs open like firefox. and steam interface when I play.

as I was saying I'm gonna have a look at these setting and will report later.

also i'm disabling the visual themas and bureaucomposition with compatible mode.

If the game worked better after a cold start then there could be a hardware problem, like heat or bad RAM.

Have you been playing other games, or using resource intensive programs (like video encoding)?

k i've been playing for a while with this settings now and seems to work perfectly. i'm going to make my settings higher again and with windows in compatible mode to maybe furter locate the problem. also my cpu temp. is 40°C max so thats not a problem for running the game.
