Currently I'm having both disk and download version of this game. I've just downloaded the GoG version today so I haven't tried it yet.
I remember when I played in the disk version before, the game had some annoying bugs that I really hated it like: Scorpion Trap was overpowered, Frost damage from weapon ignored resistance-->yes, some people may say "u can just don't use that skill and stay away from frost weapon because it takes fun out of game" but really I want to use them, just in a normal way not exploiting the game way. cry Also, True Shot and Crossbow Expertise didn't work too. mad My disk version at that time was 1.32 though.

Now I just updated my disk version to 1.34 and I heard that it's fixed many bugs. Also my GoG version is 1.0061. My questions are:
-If I want a version which solves all the annoying problems I've listed above, which one should I choose? frown
-Is 1.0061 the latest version? if not, how and where I can find the update patch? confused

Please help me soon, I don't wanna hold my excitement longer to explore the game again, thank u very much! DD is one of the most unforgettable games of my life! wave

For the download version, after the 1.0061 release there was a music fix that brings the version number to 1.0062.

True Shot and the damage portion of Crossbow Expertise remain broken in the download version of the game. Scorpion traps and Frost weapons are also still overpowered, but they are mentioned in so many walkthroughs and help topics that fixing them now would probably cause more problems with people looking to get through tough fights than leaving them as is would with those having to avoid using them to keep the game from becoming too easy.

thank u very much for quick reply Raze, just 1 more question, is there any change in here true?

- Fixed: encumbrance could make items disappear
- Feature: Tooltips of damage stats on stat screen improved

Skills:
- Fixed: Spellbooks no longer ignore level requirements
- Fixed: All weapon expertise skills give percentile bonuses instead of static bonuses
- Fixed: True Sight damage is now actually used
- Fixed: Bow and crossbow expertise bonuses are now actually used
- Fixed: Divine Eye removes the fog of war
- Fixed: Deadly Gift's Scorpion Trap is less powerful
- Fixed: Resurrected enemies die after region swap

If all of them are lies, I think I will continue with my disk version as I don't care about resolution

Those were changes in the original download version of the game (1.005), but in fixing a critical new bug that was introduced (certain NPCs could spin in place, so you could not interact with them), some of the source code was accidentally reverted back to an older version. The tooltips, weapon expertise, the Divine Eye spell and scorpions remain the same. Resurrected enemies do die after a region swap in the download version, though, or if you move out of range (in the disk version they turn hostile, and you can return to re-kill them).

so only those things of GoG version are different than the disk version?

- Fixed: encumbrance could make items disappear (is it bad?)
- Fixed: Spellbooks no longer ignore level requirements
- Fixed: True Sight damage is now actually used

which version do u recommend me to play Raze? disk or download one? I really don't care about resolution, just want as many bugs fixed and balanced things as possible

Also, is there any bug that appears in 1 version but fixed in the other version? or they both have same fixes and same bugs?

True Sight is still broken in the download version, and I think spell books ignore level requirements.

The problem with encumbrance was that if you placed items in a container in your inventory the weight was not updated right away, but only when you moved or changed something directly in your inventory. Since nothing can be placed in the inventory if you are over your weight capacity, if the action that triggers the update was something that would normally result in an item being put in your inventory (like drag and dropping an item from your inventory to somewhere it can not be dropped, or clicking on equipment in your inventory to swap it out with your existing equipment) that item would be destroyed. I think that is still the case in the download version, but if you save before moving a bunch of stuff around this way, it would be easy to recover from if you do have a problem.

If you don't need higher resolution support, then the disk version has a slightly smaller chance of running into some rare bugs than the download version, and there is a relatively rare bug (with an easy fix) specific to the download version.
For actual gameplay, there is a quest in Verdistis to steal back a very useful item that the city guards impounded; in the disk version you can return the item to complete the quest and then cheaply buy it back (which is nice, but not very realistic), while in the download version you can not buy it back, so need to leave the quest unfinished to keep the item (though that is an easy trade-off IMNSHO). The quest giver is also a decent trader in the disk version of the game, but not download.

With the disk version of the game there is a configuration file edit to skip the intro videos (see here), which you may want to do after you have seen them at least once.
In the patched game (1.0034) this will also eliminate the need for the Play CD, except for a couple cases (a ceremony you trigger late in the game, and at the end of the game). These are the same limitations as with the no-CD hack.

ty for very fast and specific answer, last question:
-I know atm the download version doesn't have any plan for update patch, but no one knows about the future. I think the chance for download version to have update is higher than disk version as it's newer. So I wonder: if I play the disk version, is it possible to use the save file from there to play in download version too?

Disk version saves (started in 1.0034) are not compatible with the download version of the game; people have reported either that the game crashes trying to load, or that they can load the save but then not save afterwards. Saves started in earlier disk versions are ok, but I think with the 1.0033 patch there was a change made in the inventory file format that causes a problem with the download version of the game. If there is ever a patch, though, presumably it would update the download version to be able to recognize the last disk version save format.

A couple people who lost their Play CDs were able to get up to the Blessing Ceremony in the disk version (where a cutscene requires the disk), then replace their inventory files with ones from my first game (started in the original release) and then continue in the download version. Swapping inventory files at any other place in the game would very likely cause problems with missing quest items, etc. It is also possible to use files from the download version of the game to create a replacement Play CD (virtual or CD/DVD-R/RW).
