I came into contact with several higher level orcs, one destroyed my character and the game still prompted me to fight but had nothing alive to fight with and had to restart game.
A similar thing happened to me. One of the chars died in combat but i was still prompted to continue fighting with her in the round right after her death. I skipped the round for her and afterwards all was ok.
