I'm not sure if the "outside the map - teleporting you to safe point" feature is just in for alpha/beta, but at one point (many points, actually, it seems to be somewhat common) the game seemed to desync for a moment and the host saw my character running to the north when in reality I had only taken one step and then stopped to look at my inventory. This was at the location where the characters encounter the dead body of the man that had jumped from the cliff (because he thought he could fly).

Anyway, the result of this desync was that the game thought I had moved outside the map, at which point it presented me with a message that said something to the effect of "you sneak alpha tester, you managed to get outside the map. We'll place you back at a safe location".

The location it chose was in front of the gates at the first town - despite the fact that we had not actually reached this location yet. That put the orc beach battle, the guard encounter at the bridge, and the crab encounter between myself and the friend I was playing with.

That should never happen. If the game thinks someone has gone outside the map and is attempting to put them at a safe spot, it should stick them at either the last waypoint they visited or the last save location (whichever is closer), or even right next to the other member of the party. Move the other player *back* (so he can catch up with his party), never forward to a location that has not been visited yet, or with a score of encounters now placed between the two players.
