There is no grid, so it plays more like Phantom Brave than Disgaea or FF:Tactics. These grid based SRPG's aren't totally distinct though. The same types of good planning will work in a lot of ways.
I would compare this most closely in combat to Fallout 2, honestly. I think there is a lot of similarity in how one has to go about combat. There are action points, costs that vary based on the action, and skills that affect the potency and accuracy of all these actions.
Totally makes sense.. This post made the purchase..
Again I won't be playing it until they officially release but I want to support the developers as early as I can.
