Started getting a new error today.

So now I am unable to save a game or load a game.

I get the message Save Game Failed (copy to levelcache failed) error now for either a quicksave or a regular save.

Did you have any errors loading saves in the previous version?

Yes. All saves would crash me to desktop. So I uninstalled the game totally today after the patch. Started a new game played for a few minutes and saved. Both regular and quicksave fail. However the save file seems to show up. But still get the error if I try to load them. Previous saves that I readded to the save folder wont load either.

***Just sent in a new bug report via game client.

I am experiencing the exact same issue. I also just sent in a bug report. Let me know if I can assist in any other way.

The fact that this copy fails is the reason why some save games don't work anymore - we're trying to understand why so please do send your specs via the debug tool. It'll help us find it faster because so far we didn't manage to reproduce the issue.

Firstly i want to thank larian for making this great game, as a older player of the old devine divinity games, i love to see where this new game is leading to, and its very!! promising indeed

About the issue with the save/load game failing:

Here are my experiences with it

my pc specs first

msi mobo Motherboard Name MSI Z87-G45 Gaming (MS-7821)
16 GB ram
intel i7-4770K processor
Asus geforce gtx 780 video card
Samsung SyncMaster S27A950 (DVI) monitor at 120 hz refresh
Creative CA0132 @ Creative Sound Blaster ZxR Audio Controller PCI
installed all the newest drivers for the motherboard as well as video and sound
Harddisks:
Drive Drive Type File System Total Size Used Space Free Space % Free Volume Serial
C: (Sam 840 C) Local Disk NTFS 238372 MB 42614 MB 195758 MB 82 % AC66-BFFF
E: (Sam 840 EVO E) Local Disk NTFS 450000 MB 168513 MB 281487 MB 63 % 6898-BCEF
F: (OCZ Synapse F) Local Disk NTFS 61054 MB 13174 MB 47880 MB 78 % 20C6-D82C
J: (Sam 840 EVO J) Local Disk NTFS 503866 MB 205100 MB 298766 MB 59 % D49A-FA27
W: Removable Disk

Operating system windows 7 64 bits sp1

Steam is installed on drive E
games are installed also on drive E
so not on the C drive

installed divinity-original sin via steam on the E drive

running the game normally with default settings and used a party with 2 mages

in the start area where you appear first, i do a save and a quick save
the window with cannot make save to levelcache appears, but the save is made, i checked it in the save folder, although in the levelcache folder nothing is written, its empty.

when i try to load or quickload game, the game crashes right away.

Now for the strange part , or not so strange part

i took my 2 persons party into the game further on, i went to the orcs, and then to the dark cove

Inside dark cove i can save and quicksave the game, its still showing the cannot make save to level cache error, but the game saves, WHEN i load or quickload the game at that point the game DOESN'T crash, the same happens for me when i enter homestead and save there, this also doesn't crash the game.

Not sure if all this is helpfull for you guys, but i wanted to mention it anyway.

Getting the same error and I've sent my report.zip file to Larian.

A quick question. Is anyone getting the error using Microsoft's Skydrive? I've noticed that sometimes Skydrive takes over my physical documents folder and tries to save files to the cloud based documents folder.

That's good. In that case, I won't send in my report.zip (admittedly, in part because I couldn't attach a 12 MB file).

Hey, as I'm typing this an update is downloading!

EDIT: It worked. I can now properly load both normal and quicksaves! Thanks, Larian!

Well the last fix did not work for me... I still have the "copy to levelcache failed" message and when a save does exist it just crash on loading.

At least it worked for some people.

Yesterday with the before-last-patch at the time of writing, I had the levelcache message exactly once. Wasn't able to reproduce later.

If I recall correctly, what I did was:
1. delete all savegames I had (not really playing the story for now, so I can do that :hihi: )
2. try to save
3. get warning
4. retry saving
5. game freezes, music keeps playing (wasn't able to reproduce)
6. kill the process via task manager
7. restart the game
8. saving games worked for the rest of the evening

I deleted all saves, deleted even the whole larian studio folder in my documents.

I even checked the game contents via steam (validating...) and started a new game, still the error and same issue: I cannot save.

not sure what is happening but my game wont update to 1.0.95 (according to steam itself 1.0.95 is latest patch), it stays on 1.0.93, deleted whole game and downloading again maybe that helps

lol when my downloaded finished 5 seconds later the 1.0.95 patch downloaded

in any case i am happy camper because savegame loadgame works now and also in the start area

kuddos to larian and all the guys that helped fixing this bug
