If that's the case, that seems a bit arbitrary. For example, I taught Jahan the "Resurrect" spell. That works, so if he is alive after combat ends, there's no reason why he couldn't use it to revive Scarlett and Roderick. If only one is dead, it's not a game over, right?
Minions can trade and use skills, why shouldn't they be able to go get a spell/scroll to revive a dead main character? It should be game over if all the active party members die.
Yes, this seems a little arbitrary. I guess this decision was made before the companions were fully fleshed-out, so there was no possibility to bring Roderick and Scarlett alive before both of them died. And now Larian needs to rethink this mechanics or add some kind of another explanation why Scarlett and Roderick cannot be revived by companions.
