The combat end auto-rez is already in game but has inconsistent behavior, something that will be fixed at release presumably. In such a context, I don't understand what looting dead party members would be useful to.

CASE 2: If Scarlett and Roderick both die, the game is over.

Granted, that's a rough mechanic. I think some of us remember the frustration of never, ever, being able to resurect the main character in the Baldur's Gate saga. That said, if Roderick and Scarlett's death triggers a game over, I don't understand what purposes looting dead party members might have.

CASE 3: Some types of death are intended permanent and cannot be negated with resurection spells or scrolls.

If such possibilities existed in the final game, then, yes, we must be able to loot dead party members.

You missed this one:

CASE 4: Death requires use of a Resurrect Scroll or Spell to cure.

I think that in the final, it'll be Case 4. That's the impression I've got from Larian's various comments on the game, at least. Case 1 of auto-revive after combat ending will probably only be on easy difficulty only if it's in at all. I think the auto-revive is turned on only because it's alpha and not balanced.
