For lockpicking WHAT are you trying to unlock? Certain things require a key and can't be picked. I have one in lockpick and can open most things. Evelyn's House is one of those places that needs a key. Maybe a notification that a key is required would help.
If you think the Pirate is the last thing to kill in the Alpha then you're sadly mistaken.
