Thanks a lot for that! It's so much easier reading in that format.

You're welcome smile

As I said, it's not 'perfect' and probably has a ton of errors in it, but it's functional for now until we see what the final crafting system looks like smile

And as far as I could tell before, not all of these combinations seemed to work, but then I noticed after looking at the file that especially for the blank scrolls & books you need to have specialty in that wizard skill! Not Crafting at all! So, I'm off to check those out and see how it works.

oh, and it seems odd that once you have, say, crafting of level 5, that you can never make some of the lower tier items anymore. It's not handy especially if you are crafting for another party member. Especially if they don't have the requirements (yet) for the higher tier item, but could have used the one that is a level below. (ie, maybe they didn't put all their attribute points into strength, so can't use that spiffy new 2 handed sword...)

EDIT : So i found a campfire in town, and built a mobile kitchen. but still, it wasnt in my inventory, and i wasnt able to put my leather armor into the mobile kitchen to craft something with. So, what did i miss.?

Hi Slothful
in Beta 1.0.239 the mobile kitchen is somewhat broken
you can't put it in your inventory and if it is in your inventory (finding or random item from vendor) only a ? is shown and you can't place it outside but you can use it :
cooking is possible
and doing leather armor gives an armor boost

I did some extensive testing with crafting and here is some things I found that will hopefully help others that want to test the crafting system out:

1.) All item combinations are either done by dragging the items on top of each other in the inventory screen or with interacting with static items like the forge. There is now messages if your crafting isn't high enough to perform the combination you are trying. Also sometimes things will stack like Iron Bars, which you will have to separate if you want to make a large iron bar.

2.) The Cooking Pot:
This can be placed in most campfires but works best in open campfires like the one near the north west gate between the abandon house / morticians house. Now there is two ways to do this:
a.) Drag the cooking pot on top of the fire until the fire turns yellow, this allows you to drop the cooking pot in the fire and the crafting screen comes up. When it finishes it creates a mobile kitchen, however it doesn't appear in your inventory the game puts a static mobile chicken on the ground that you can use to cook food. This looks like a fire with a pot hanging over it held up by a stick. To cook food in it just drag the food from your inventory onto the mobile kitchen and it will cook the food
b.) Drop the cooking pot close to the forge or campfire and the crafting screen will come up, however this time it will re-appear in your inventory as a ? labeled as mobile kitchen. I believe this is a glitch and will eventually be patched out, however as it currently stands it gives you the ability to have a mobile kitchen in your inventory instead of on the ground as a static item.

3.) The Forge:
First off this can be found behind the abandon house and is quiet large. The forge can be used by dragging items into the forge. This works the same was as the mobile kitchen as the forge will turn yellow when the item is in the right place. An example of this would be dropping an Iron Bar into the forge to create a weapon. The forge can be used to make weapons / armor out of iron/steel, or you can melt down weapons/armor you don't want and get a Iron bar, Large Iron Bar, Steel Bar, or Large Steel Bar from the item you just melted down. Also sometimes when you create an item from the forge it will not go into your inventory but plop down on the floor. So if you don't see it in your inventory press ALT and you should see it on the ground.

4.) The Wetstone
This is another item that I have found as a static item by the forge and as an item I could pickup in my inventory. From what I can tell this is still currently bugged as I can't use either on a weapon.

Crafting in a whole:
If you keep on top of crafting as your characters level up and proceed through the game you will be able to create items slightly better, sometimes marginally better then what you can find unless its a really good Green/Blue item. Also I'm not sure if its just a roll % or something but I wasn't able to craft any magical weapons(Green/Blue)

What I found the bigger advantage was creating magical rings / amulets for your characters to get + to str, spd, refelex's, ect as I never really found many of these items in the world. The other really big advantage I found for it was making healing positions / food which heals for a decent amount as well. This saved some money on healing until you healer can step in and do the job, or you get in a pinch where your heals are on cool down.

Over all I like the idea of the exploratory crafting system and reading the books for clues / recipes on how to make things, however once you make an item it would be nice if there was a master crafting list of items you have "figured" out that you could click craft on and it would use the items from your inventory to create another.

Also I was unable to use the mobile kitchen to improve my leather armor so I don't know if I'm doing this wrong or if its been patched out?

Anyhow hope this helps some people. If anyone could get the wetstone working I would be interested to know how.

Yeah, the "Mobile Kitchen" doesn't live up to its name because you can't move it or take it with you.

Crafting as a whole feels unpolished. The game really needs a dedicated crafting interface, dragging and dropping is on the whole more inconvenient than it could be. Weapons, armour, clothing, potions, and scrolls are all possible ingredients for in-inventory crafting, which means you have to use the "All" Tab in your inventory for quite a bit of crafting, and even an inventory sort button isn't going to fix that.

Ingredients are almost entirely found at random, either in containers or in NPC inventories. You find one at a time, you can't buy a bunch at once.

Branches are a super-popular ingredient used in loads of things, but the game is super-stingy at handing them out.

Some recipes also are poor investments. One branch gives only one arrowshaft, when it should be at least three. One entire silver bar of ore gives one arrowhead, should be more than that. One Empty Flask plus One Barrel of Ooze gives you one poison potion! One flask should not take an entire barrel's worth of poison.

Sometimes things are inconsistent. You can't make a flask of water, not from a bucket, not from a barrel. You can't make a flask of oil from an oil barrel.

It's also odd that drinking a potion doesn't give you an empty flask.

Is the wetstone bugged? I haven't found a way to do this yet?

Can you also still improve leather/cloth armor states as this isn't working for me either?

On a side note, I haven't really bothered to figure this out but can someone help me understand the use of

Blank [element] scrolls
[element] essences

Like how do you make scrolls anyhow. Confused. Never had to do it to "beat" the game but now that I got time, really want to try and understand these things.

the whetstone can be used to make weapons deal slightly more damage and around 90 gold more (all sorts of swords, axes, spears, but no dagger or knife or staff or mace)

you have to drag it over the whetstone till it gets yellow

the found item whetstone (I really found one in more than 60hours play with opening all barrels chests...) does the same for only one time and is gone!!!

the forge can only do make bars out of weapons (axes for iron, swords for steel, 2H gives the large bar) - I didn't try mail or plate armor but leather and cloth does nothing

the bars have to be dragged over the ANVIL to get the weapon

you also can drag metal shields or plate/mail armor over the anvil to get some boost (either durability/more blocking and armor lower movementrestriction/more bonus/more armorrating depending on crafting skill and?! player level)

you need the magic ink pot&quill to use the empty scrolls and you have to be elementalist of the corresponding skill to get a random spellscroll (crafting 3 to 5 required)

with elemetal blank books: you have the same constraints but need crafting 5! and drag a spellscroll over the book (never tried this because my crafting is only 4)

I didn't find out how to get elemental scrolls because pixie dust and paer does animaton but nothing happens and elemental essence is rare (only statues give one of each)

Some more idea which probably don't work, but would be nice:

Normal Arrowheads do NOT combine with arrow shafts (because of free infinite normal arrows)

Normal Arrowhead + Fire Scroll = Fire Arrowhead
Normal Arrowhead + Air Scroll = Stunning Arrowhead
Normal Arrowhead + Water Scroll = Chilling Arrowhead (inflicts Chilled status)
Normal Arrowhead + Earth Scroll = Poison Arrowhead
Normal Arrowhead + Witchcraft Scroll = Debuff Arrowhead

Normal Arrowhead + Water Flask = Water Arrowhead
Normal Arrowhead + Oil Flask = Slowdown Arrowhead?
Normal Arrowhead + Poison Flask = Poison Arrowhead

Chilling Arrowhead + Chilling Arrowhead = Freezing Arrowhead

Fire Arrowhead + Flask of Poison = Explosive Arrowhead.
Fire Arrowhead + Flask of Oil = Smokecloud Arrowhead.
Fire Arrowhead + Flask of Water = Steamcloud arrowhead.

Stunning Arrowhead + Flask of Water = Static Cloud arrowhead
Stunning Arrowhead + Flask of Poison = Poison Cloud arrowhead
Stunning Arrowhead + Flask of Oil = Smokecloud Arrowhead?

Of course, you would need to be able to make flasks of oil and water, which you can't right now.

The magic ink pot and quill works on the blank (insert spell school) scroll. I.E Blank earth scroll blank fire scroll etc. I haven't figured out how to get the regular scrolls to turn into black spell scrolls though.

EDIT: Lol - nevermind. Just figured out how to make those scrolls. Take pixie dust and combine it with the normal blank scrolls and it will make a random magic scroll. Fortunately the magic ink pot and quill don't go away.

EDIT: Also, normal arrow heads do combine with arrow shafts. They make normal arrows .

You need Crafting of 5 to craft cool stuff.
Blank scroll + Pixie Dust=Blank Magic Scroll
Blank Magic Scroll + Magic Ink & Quill=Spell Scroll
Blank Skill Book + Spell Scroll=Skill Book

Element essences you can just drag into weapons and armor to get additional effects, or to enhance existing ones. Same goes for ingridient gem stones, Tormented Souls etc.

At level 5 you can also start crafting good mage armor. You need to apply Pixie dust on Needle and Thread and combine it with cloth scraps to make mage robes.

You can make many elemental arrows by combining elemental resistance potions with arrowheads. Poison arrowheads are created by combining poison potion with attowheads. Poison arrowheads can be combined to make poison cloud arrowheads. Charm arrowheads are created by combining drudenae or charm potions with arrowheads.
