Does Zixzax go through the whole welcome speech each time you talk to him?
In the observatory he should start off with "You're still here, are you?". Whether you talk to him or not, clicking on the waypoint for the first time should start another conversation where he begins with "Another quick word before you leave, Unknown Ones!", and after going through that the waypoint list shows up with any waypoints that you have found.
Zixzax starts out with "You're still here, are you?" when we talk to him again, and he did say the moment we went into the observatory as well. But we are unable to interact with the waypoint and the second part of the dialogue never happens.
We just get to ask him about what stones we are supposed to look for, How we are influencing the end of time, how I am altering the shelter plane exactly, Tell me a bit more about yourself, I will take my leave.

Yes.
What happens if you fire your companions and then try the waypoint?
Nothing changes. We are still unable to interact with the waypoint and Zixzax says the same things.
Edit: Now when we talk to him the first time after loading and we select the option "I will take my leave." the female character gets +1 Romantic and the male one gets +1 "Pragmatic"
