It would appear that the pressure switch that starts the Another Crazed Mage does nothing apart from triggering Billeh Gahr. Stepping off doesn't trigger the explosion. The hidden button under the rug cannot be interacted with. The pressure plate triggers the conversation with Billeh Gahr every time it is stepped on.
