Hello,

Having the exact same issue - no icons for skills/spells/items. I tried all kind of settings combination - nothing seems to help.

OS: Win 7 64bit
GPU: NVIDIA GT 9800 (latest drivers - GeForce 332.21)

Thanks,

Do you have anti-aliasing forced in your graphics drivers, or anything like that?

Try browsing to the ..\SteamApps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\Shipping folder, right click on the EoCApp.exe, select properties, switch to the Compatibility tab and disable desktop composition (and maybe set it to run as administrator). That can sometimes help with graphical glitches in other games.

Hello Raze,

- forced anti-aliasing is not enabled (set to App controlled, tried both On/Off in-game)
- disabling desktop composition makes no difference

Report was generated and sent to the support team.

Thanks,

Thank you for reporting this in such detail.
We are still working on solving this issue and do not know yet what causes it, so please send us your report.zip files. Being able to compare several setups will help us a lot.

In the meanwhile, could you confirm if this solves the issue:
- Try launching the game as a different windows user.

If you don't have a second administrator user, please create one via control panel.
Once made, go to you install directory (D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\Shipping\), and shift-rightclick on the eocapp.exe , then select run as different user.

after last patch(the big one) there is some difference:
those red squares for pc's faces are now gone.
now there is simply nothing there.

There's some people with this issue, myself included.

I am running 64bit Win 8.1 though.

GTX 670
i7
and 16 Gb ram smile

I've tried everything from installing the game on 3 diffrent harddrives, reinstalling atleast 5 times, and compatibility modes in all flavors wink

I've also had a friend send me the whole game compressed so I check diffrences and his folder was 590 megabytes larger, but even with that no icons.

Another friend has almost the exact same computer as me and has no problems.

I've now also tried shutting down other programs running.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is single monitor display.

Will try later, so far no luck.

Also tried all gfx settings in game avaliable.

Switching to a single display had no effect.

I have under multiple occasions noticed that the game takes forever to load, it is as if it is trying to access a file but it gets denied and then it retries 100 times before skipping the file.

Some other things to try (depending on how tech-comfortable you are):

Unplug all USB devices and peripherals that aren't absolutely necessary to running the game (and if absolutely necessary ones use special driver software, consider switching those out too). This sounds odd, but sometimes these things' drivers can interact oddly with video. If you normally use dual monitors, don't just switch to single monitor mode in display settings - unplug the unused one. Reboot after unplugging everything.

Disable Steam interface components and try it in other modes. (Turn off overlay/community stuff, try offline vs online mode, etc.) There might be some interference there.

If you can get it to launch at all that way, try running the game with Windows started up in Safe Mode. (If it displays things in safe mode but not when running normally then it's highly likely that there's a driver - not necessarily a video driver - mucking things up somewhere.)

Try both newer and older versions of your video drivers, since specific builds are sometimes glitchy, especially with new/in-development games.

Install/reinstall DirectX (check the Microsoft site for an appropriate version). It might also be worth checking seeing whether there's a driver update for your motherboard.

I have already tried unplugging everything but the mouse and keyboard, right now it's to much of a hassle to unplug my soundcard but might try later.

Already tried without steam overlay both on and off and diffrent settings, steam offline is being a bit wonky but no diffrence.

I have tried diffrent versions of my gfx card drivers, no success.

I have no tried Safe mode yet, I will do that later this week.

The one thing I find odd that my friends don't encounter is that when I load or make a new game, I am stuck on the loading screen before making a character sometimes upwards to 5 minutes.

i've noticed something else...
i don't know if any of it is relevant to the problem but...
images first:
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
on the first image man can see some strange texture on the second pc portrait
(it is so already in character generation screen - man has choice between "fully transparent" and "strange texture" portraits)
and fully transparent flask
(all items are transparent when i try to pull them out of inventory in the game's world)
on the second - bug in the text message. interesting that it appears not in windowed mode - only in full-screen mode.

Do you have anti-aliasing forced in your graphics drivers? That can cause missing letters/words, and would effect full screen but not windowed mode.

I have also noticed this, some items has also ...grainy linear icon that's semi-transparent.

The text I have no idea about but I do not force AA, and I have tried with it both off and on.
